An Arctic cold front came through early this morning with some snow showers in the area. Today will be a sunny and very cold day with highs only around 20 degrees.

Wednesday morning will start off cold, but milder air will be moving into the area and high temperatures will be nearly 20 degrees warmer than today.

Thursday will be a partly sunny and seasonably mild day.

A storm will be moving well offshore on Friday giving us windy conditions, but we will remain dry.

Very cold on the weekend and another low pressure offshore will give us a chance of snow on Sunday, although most models have the storm too far to our east to give us any snow.

Luckily we did not have any freezing rain in our area yesterday morning as temperatures went above freezing before the precipitation began in the late afternoon.

A cold front came through early this morning and a brisk northwest flow of colder air is moving in. Temperatures in the low 30s early this morning will fall to the 20s during the day despite mostly sunny skies.

The coldest air of the season is likely tonight through Wednesday morning but we should remain dry. Early morning lows both Tuesday and Wednesday morning will be in the low teens with single digits further inland. Temperatures moderate Wednesday afternoon with continued mostly sunny skies.

Dry weather Thursday and Friday with temperatures slightly above normal on Thursday and near normal on Friday.

A frontal system will cause cloudy skies today with some freezing rain mainly after 9 a.m. changing to plain rain this afternoon as temperatures moderate to near the 40 degree mark.

Arctic air will then move into the area on Monday with cold temperatures and brisk wind but skies will be mostly sunny. Daytime temperatures will fall through the 20s.

After yesterday morning’s freezing rain that caused hundreds of accidents, this morning is much quieter weather-wise with mostly clear skies. A cold front will cross the area this morning and it will come through dry, but temperatures will not rise much from our present temperatures despite plenty of sunshine with highs mainly in the upper 30s. We should see an increase in clouds as the next system approaches from the west.

Snow Friday morning should accumulate 3-5 inches mainly falling from 2-8 a.m. We should see some clearing in the afternoon but it will be breezy and chilly.

An area of light moisture is moving up from the south and it should reach our area by dawn, as temperatures will still be below freezing some of this moisture may fall as light freezing rain, a winter weather advisory is in effect for our region. The precipitation will change to plain rain after 9 a.m. and end by this afternoon. Skies will remain cloudy with high temperatures reaching the 40s.

A weak area of high pressure will give us dry conditions during the day on Thursday along with seasonable cold temperatures.

Low pressure will likely give us snow Friday morning with accumulations around 2-4 inches expected. The storm is a quick mover so we should see clearing by the afternoon but it will be cold with highs only in the low 30s.

After a dry and chilly Saturday we will have another chance of precipitation on Sunday as a weak frontal system moves into the area. This time it will be warm enough for just rain but may start as a wintery mix Sunday morning.

Today we will finally have a sunny day and it will be cold but with diminishing winds by this afternoon so it will not feel as harsh as yesterday.

A weak disturbance will give us a chance of mainly rain showers on Wednesday that may be mixed with freezing rain early in the morning. High temperatures will rise into the 40s.

Weak high pressure on Thursday will give us dry conditions with seasonably cold temperatures.

Friday a storm system will likely give us snow mainly Friday morning and at this time accumulations look to be on the light side with 1-3 inches possible, however the storm is three days away so those amounts may be changed.

After a dry Saturday another low pressure may give us rain on Sunday possibly beginning as snow.

Winter weather has returned and after having temperatures well above normal the last few days today will be much colder with readings not rising much or at all from this morning’s temperatures. A strong low pressure is forming off the coast and promises to give the southern part of the state nearly a foot of snow with near blizzard conditions. There will be a sharp edge of the storm so our area should only see some flurries but the system should be watched just in case the precipitation moves further north than expected.

Finally a sunny day on Tuesday as high pressure builds from the west but it will be cold with morning lows around 20 and daytime highs in the 30s.

A weak disturbance will give us a chance of light rain or snow on Wednesday followed by partly sunny skies on Thursday, temperatures will moderate somewhat to slightly above normal.

DECEMBER – Temperatures were well above normal and it was the second warmest December (warmest was in 2015) Highest temperature 65 on the 11th, the lowest was 21 degrees on the 20th. Precipitation was well below normal with 1.35″ and it was Clifton’s 4th driest December. Snowfall was well below normal with only 0.5″ falling on the morning of the 24th.

2021– Temperatures were well above normal and it was the 3rd warmest year since I started my records in 1973. Highest temperature was 99 recorded on June 30th, the lowest was 12 degrees 12 degrees set on February 18th. Precipitation was above normal and was the 6th wettest year 63.96″. Snowfall for the year totaled 40 inches which 35.5 of it accumulated in February. The top weather event was Hurricane Ida which caused massive floods with some deaths in our area.
