Partly sunny and milder today! Mostly cloudy and very mild on Thursday with rain and strong winds at night into early Friday morning! Dry and seasonably cool weather for the weekend!

Skies are clear and moonlit early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures are around ten degrees warmer than this time yesterday with readings at 5 a.m. ranging from 22 in Clifton down to 10 at Pequest, winds are mainly calm.

Strong high pressure off the coast will give our area a southerly flow of milder air today as high temperatures reach the upper 40s which will feel warm after out very cold weather of the past few days. Skies will be mostly sunny in the morning but we should see some increase in clouds by late in the day.

Very mild on Thursday as a south-southwest flow continued which will raise temperatures into the low 60s despite mostly cloudy skies.

The strong cold front will be moving through the area Thursday night into Friday morning with rain heavy at times and strong winds gusting to over 40 mph at times. Rainfall amounts of 1/2 to 1 inch.

Gradual clearing by noon on Friday but it will be windy. Temperatures in the 50s in the morning will fall to the upper 30s by sunset.

The weekend weather will be dry with seasonably cool temperatures.

Mild weather will return next week with a chance of showers on Tuesday.

THURSDAY – FEB 17 – Mostly cloudy and very mild, high in the low 60s. Rain with strong winds mainly after 10 p.m.

FRIDAY – FEB 18 – Cloudy in the morning then gradual clearing, windy, temperatures in the 50s in the morning will drop to the upper 30s by sunset.

SATURDAY – FEB 19 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 40s.

SUNDAY – FEB 20 – Sunny, high in the low 40s.

PRESIDENTS DAY – FEB 21 – Mostly sunny and milder, high in the mid 50s.

TUESDAY – FEB 22 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the mid 50s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory will be effect from 10 a.m. this morning through 6 p.m. Thursday evening for southerly winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 3-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – A gale watch has been posted effective from 6 p.m. Thursday evening through 1 p.m. Friday afternoon; small craft advisories expected to continue Friday night; advisories likely on Saturday with possible gale gusts; no advisories expected for Sunday.
