Showers ending early this morning then clearing, continued windy with falling temperatures! Windy and cold on Saturday with a chance of afternoon snow showers! Sunny and cold on Sunday with lighter winds! Milder next week with rain Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday!


Showers are falling over much of the area early on this Friday morning and it is unseasonably mild with temperatures at 5 a.m. ranging from 62 in Clifton down to 55 at High Point, winds are gusting to near 40 mph from the southwest.

A strong cold front will cross the area around sunrise with strong southwest winds becoming northwest gusting at times over 40 mph. Showers will end also around daybreak with much colder air moving into the area, temperatures that are in the low 60s now will fall to the mid 30s by sunset. Skies will become mostly sunny by this afternoon.

Saturday we will see some increasing cloudiness with a chance of snow showers in the afternoon as a weak cold front crosses the area, winds will again gust to near 40 mph.

Sunday will be a sunny and cold day with less wind.

Milder Monday through Wednesday and showers are expected from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning.

Cooler on Thursday with a low chance of light snow or rain.

TODAY – FEB 18 – Showers ending by dawn then becoming partly sunny windy and much colder, temperatures falling to the mid 30s by sunset. Winds gusting to above 40 mph.

TONIGHT – Mostly clear with diminishing winds, low in the low 20s.

SATURDAY – FEB 19 – Increasing clouds with a snow showers likely in the afternoon, high in the low 40s, winds gusting to 40 mph

SUNDAY – FEB 20 – Sunny and cold with less wind, high in the upper 30s.

PRESIDENTS DAY – FEB 21 – Sunny and milder, high in the low 50s.

TUESDAY – FEB 22 – Cloudy with rain developing by the afternoon, high in the mid 50s.

WEDNESDAY – FEB 23 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of morning showers, quite mild, high in the low 60s.

THURSDAY – FEB 24 – Mostly cloudy and colder with a chance of light snow, high in the low 40s.

MARINE FORCAST: A gale warning i in effect until 1 p.m. this afternoon for westerly winds gusting to 45 knots, seas 9-14 feet.

OUTLOOK – A gale watch has been posted for Saturday afternoon and night; no advisories expected Sunday and Monday; advisories possible on Tuesday.
