Skies are cloudy early on this Saturday morning and there is considerable fog in much of the area. Temperatures are mild with readings at 5 a.m. ranging from 62 in Clifton only down to 60 at Vernon and Sandyston. Winds are mainly calm.

Clouds and fog will burn off this morning and it will become sunny and very hot today with an increase in humidity. High temperatures should reach the mid 90s with some record highs possible. The humidity will rise with dew points in the 60s which will raise the heat index to near 100. A heat advisory has been issued.

Still hot on Sunday with again some record highs possible. A cold front will give the area a chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly in the evening.

Much more pleasant weather Monday through the day on Wednesday with near seasonable temperatures and lower humidity.

Milder towards the end of next week with shower chances increasing.

MONDAY – MAY 23 – Partly sunny, cooler and less humid, high in the mid 70s.

TUESDAY – MAY 24 – Partly sunny, high near 70.

WEDNESDAY – MAY 25 – Partly sunny in the morning, mostly cloudy in the afternoon, high near 70. Chance of showers at night.

THURSDAY – MAY 26 – Mostly cloudy in the morning then partly sunny with a chance of showers, high in the upper 70s.

FRIDAY – MAY 27 – Mostly cloudy in the morning then partly sunny with showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm, high in the upper 70s.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – Light and variable winds, seas 2-3 feet. Point Pleasant water temperature is 55 degrees.
