Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Saturday morning and temperatures are fairly uniform over the area with readings at 5 a.m. ranging from 65 in Clifton down to 61 at High Point. Winds are mainly calm. Overnight thunderstorms caused 1.51″ of rain between midnight and 2 a.m. this morning.

A cold front will slowly move offshore today as an upper level low is in our area, this will cause some additional showers and thunderstorms mainly from late this morning through the afternoon. High temperatures with the clouds and showers will be slightly lower than yesterday with highs in the upper 70s. Some storms may be accompanied by small hail and gusty winds.

High pressure then will build over the area Sunday and on Memorial Day providing plenty of sunshine both days with pleasantly warm temperatures on Sunday but become hot and a little more humid on Memorial Day. This Memorial holiday weekend will be much better than last year when rain fell Saturday and Sunday with highs only 49 degrees both days, last Memorial Day the weather was better with clearing and a high near 70.

Tuesday will be the hottest day of this upcoming week with highs well up into the 90s.

A back door cold front will cause cooler temperatures on Wednesday but still above normal.

Seasonably warm Thursday and Friday but a frontal system may cause some showers both days.

TODAY – MAY 28 – Mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms mainly from late this morning into the afternoon, some storms may be accompanied by small hail and gusty winds, high in the upper 70s.

TONIGHT – Partly cloudy with still a chance of a showers this evening, becoming mostly clear after midnight, low in the upper 50s.

SUNDAY – MAY 29 – Sunny, high in the low 80s.

MEMORIAL DAY – MAY 30 – Mostly sunny, high near 90.

TUESDAY – MAY 31 – Mostly sunny and very hot, high in the mid 90s.

WEDNESDAY – JUN 1 – Mostly sunny and cooler, high in the low 80s, chance of showers at night.

THURSDAY – JUN 2 – Partly sunny with a chance of mainly afternoon and evening showers, high in the mid 80s.

FRIDAY – JUN 3 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers, high near 80.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – A small craft advisory is in effect until 2 p.m. this afternoon for southwest winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 3-5 feet. Point Pleasant Beach’s ocean temperature is 60 degrees.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Sunday through Wednesday.
