Skies are mostly clear early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures at 4 a.m. range from 67 in Clifton down to 58 at Walpack. Winds are light mainly from the southwest.

High pressure moving off the coast will give us a hot and increasingly humid day today with temperatures in the 90s and dew points approaching the 70 degree mark. Southwest winds will be gusty this afternoon. A cold front will be approaching our area and pass through overnight tonight which will likely give us showers and thunderstorms mainly after 5 p.m., some of these storms may become severe with strong gusty winds and heavy rain.

High pressure will then build into our area on Wednesday and although it will be hot it will become less humid with dew points lowering to the 50s by the afternoon.

Thursday through Saturday look to be mainly dry with seasonably warm temperatures and comfortable humidity.

Warmer and more humid Sunday and Monday with a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.

Looking ahead next week should be hot with most high temperatures in the 90s.

TONIGHT – Partly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely, some storms maybe severe with strong gusty winds and heavy rain mainly before 11 p.m., low near 70.

WEDNESDAY – JUL 13 – Sunny and becoming less humid, high in the low 90s.

THURSDAY – JUL 14 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 80s.

FRIDAY – JUL 15 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 80s.

SATURDAY – JUL 16 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 80s.

SUNDAY – JUL 17 – Partly sunny with a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, high near 90.

MONDAY – JUL 18 – Partly sunny with a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, high near 90.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory will be in effect between noon today and midnight tonight for southerly winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 3-6 feet. Belmar’s ocean temperature is 73 degrees.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Wednesday through Saturday; possible advisories for Sunday.
