Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and it is muggy with some patchy fog over parts of the area. Temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 70 in Clifton down to 65 at Sandyston. Winds are mainly calm.

Yesterday we received much needed rainfall and although my station recorded less than an inch of rain some areas received much more with 3 1/2 inches in the Sparta area and 4 1/2 inches across Long Beach Island.

Today will be a much quieter day with mostly cloudy skies as the weak front in our area weakens. Only a low chance of an afternoon or evening shower and thunderstorm. High temperatures will be a few degrees higher than yesterday and it will still be humid with dew points mainly in the upper 60s.

High pressure will then build into our area on Wednesday giving us a sunny day with quite warm temperatures.

Mainly dry weather with continued warm temperatures Thursday through the weekend with only a low chance of an afternoon or evening shower and thunderstorm on Friday as a weak front moves through the area. The humidity will be moderate with most dew points in the mid 60s.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with a chance of a scattered shower and thunderstorm mainly before 8 p.m., becoming mostly clear after midnight, low in the upper 60s.

THURSDAY – AUG 25 – Sunny, high near 90.

FRIDAY – AUG 26 – Mostly sunny with a chance of an afternoon or evening shower and thunderstorm, high near 90.

SATURDAY – AUG 27 – Sunny, high in the upper 80s.

SUNDAY – AUG 28 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 80s.

MONDAY – AUG 29 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 80s.
