Cloudy and windy today with a chance of light rain! Mostly cloudy and continued windy on Monday with only a slight chance of showers! Still mostly cloudy and cool on Tuesday! Dry with a slow warming trend Wednesday through Friday!

Skies are cloudy early on this Sunday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 59 in Clifton down to 51 at Vernon. Winds continue brisk out of the northeast.

The remains of Ian which is now over Virginia, along with strong high pressure to our north, will combine to give us a brisk northeast flow of cool air. Skies will remain cloudy with a chance of mainly light rain, especially to our south and east.

The remains of Ian will then redevelop off the coast Monday and Tuesday but at this time most if not all of the precipitation will remain to our south and east. Winds will still be brisk out of the northeast with some coastal flooding likely.

Finally some clearing with milder temperatures Wednesday through Friday as high pressure moves into our area. A cold front should cross our area on Friday followed by a dry but cool weather for next weekend.

TODAY – OCT 2 – Cloudy and windy with a chance of light rain, high near 60, winds gusts to 30 mph.

TONIGHT – Cloudy and windy with a chance of light rain, low in the mid 40s, winds gusts to 30 mph.

MONDAY – OCT 3 – Mostly cloudy and breezy, high in the upper 50s, winds gusts to 25 mph.

TUESDAY – OCT 4 – Mostly cloudy in the morning then becoming partly sunny, high near 60.

WEDNESDAY – OCT 5 – Partly sunny, high near 70.

THURSDAY – OCT 6 – Sunny, high in the mid 70s.

FRIDAY – OCT 7 – Mostly sunny, high near 70.

SATURDAY – OCT 8 – Sunny and cooler, high near 60.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday evening for northeast winds gusting to 40 knots, seas 7-12 feet.

OUTLOOK: Small craft advisories likely to continued Tuesday and Wednesday; no advisories expected for Thursday.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR SEPTEMBER 2022

Temperatures averaged slightly above normal for the month. Highest temperature was 89 recorded on the 4th and the lowest temperature was 45 degrees on the 24th.

Precipitation was slightly below normal with 3.51″ accumulating. The wettest day was on the 6th with 1.05″.
