Skies are mainly clear early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 52 in Clifton down to 37 at Pequest. Winds are mainly calm.

High pressure will move off the coast today and we will have a southerly flow of mild air with an increase in clouds by this afternoon.

A strong cold front will approach our area on Thursday and move offshore Thursday night causing windy and mild conditions with showers that may be heavy at times along with a chance of thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts will average 1 to 1 1/2 inches with higher amounts possible.

Mainly dry weather Friday through the weekend with near seasonable temperatures.

Another cold front may cause showers early next week along with cooler than normal temperatures by Tuesday.

TODAY – OCT 12 – Increasing cloudiness, high in the low 70s.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy, low in the upper 50s.

THURSDAY – OCT 13 – Cloudy and windy with showers mainly after 2 p.m. with a thunderstorm possible, rain may be heavy at times, high near 70. Wind gusts to 30 mph possible.

FRIDAY – OCT 14 – Sunny, high in the upper 60s.

SATURDAY – OCT 15 – Sunny, high near 70.

SUNDAY – OCT 16 – Partly sunny, high in the upper 60s.

MONDAY – OCT 17 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers, high in the low 60s.

TUESDAY – OCT 18 – Partly sunny and chilly with a chance of showers, high only in the mid 50s.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – Southerly winds to 15 knots, seas 1-2 feet.

OUTLOOK – A small craft advisory has been posted effective between 11 a.m. Thursday morning until 6 a.m. Friday morning; advisories still expected the rest of Friday; possible advisories for higher seas Saturday and Sunday.
