Skies across our area are partly cloudy and early temperatures range from 31 in Clifton down to 25 at High Point and Walpack. Winds are light from the northwest.

During the day we will see an increase in clouds as a low pressure system across the Mississippi valley approaches our area. Rain should begin around sunset likely mixed with snow and sleet especially further inland. All the precipitation should change to plain rain later tonight and continue heavy at times tapering off by sunrise on Saturday. Easterly winds will become gusty tonight with speeds 30-35 mph. Rainfall amounts will average between one and one and a half inches.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy with some showers possible into early in the afternoon.

High pressure will build into the area for Sunday giving us mostly sunny skies but it will be breezy, temperatures will be slightly above normal.

Mainly quiet weather next week with only a low chance of light rain or snow shower Monday night. Temperatures will average slightly above normal Monday and Tuesday and be near normal the rest of the week.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – MAR 3 – Increasing cloudiness with rain developing toward evening likely mixed with snow and sleet at the start, high in the mid 40s.

TONIGHT – Mixed precipitation becoming all rain after 10 p.m. with rain becoming heavy at times, windy with gusts to 30 mph from the east, low in the upper 30s. Total rainfall averaging between 1 and 1 1/2 inchs.

SATURDAY – MAR 4 – Rain mainly ending by 7 a.m. but remaining mostly cloudy and breezy with a chance of showers, high in the mid 40s.

SUNDAY – MAR 5 – Sunny and breezy, high near 50.

MONDAY – MAR 6 – Sunny, high in the mid 50s.

TUESDAY – MAR 7 – Chance of early snow showers then becoming partly sunny, high in the low 50s.

WEDNESDAY – MAR 8 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 40s.

THURSDAY – MAR 9 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

OUTLOOK: A gale warning will be in effect from 6 p.m. this evening until 6 a.m. Saturday morning; advisories expected to continue the rest of Saturday through Sunday night; no advisories expected for Monday; small craft advisories possible for Tuesday.
