High pressure will control our weather today and it will be mild with less wind than yesterday, highs should be in the low to mid 50s.

A weak disturbance will likely give us some light snow from late tonight through early Tuesday morning, accumulations should be less than one half inch. A cold front with the disturbance will move past our area in the morning followed by a strong northwest flow of colder air with possible wind gusts to 30-35 mph.

Wednesday through Friday look to be dry with near seasonable temperatures.

The weekend looks to be unsettled with a couple of low pressure systems moving into the area. Rain is likely on Saturday with still a chance of rain for Sunday.

Weak high pressure will give us a mostly sunny day and it will be milder with highs in the low 50s, winds will be a little gusty in the afternoon.

Another dry and mild day on Monday.

A weak disturbance will give us a chance of mainly light rain early Tuesday morning, the precipitation may be in the form of light snow to our north and west with only a dusting possible. The disturbance will be followed by clearing by Tuesday afternoon but it will be windy and cooler.

Mainly dry Wednesday through Friday and unlike most of the winter temperatures will be slightly below normal.

A stronger low pressure system will likely give us rain on Saturday that may begin as light snow late Friday night.

Deep low pressure will be moving offshore today and most of the rain will end before sunrise although there still may be a shower before noon. Skies should remain mostly cloudy to cloudy with near seasonable temperatures in the 40s.

High pressure building into our area on Sunday will give us a mostly sunny day with milder temperatures.

Next week looks to be mainly dry with the only precipitation being in the form of rain or snow showers Monday night. High temperatures will be in the 50s on Monday and be mainly in the 40s the rest of the week which is near seasonable levels.

During the day we will see an increase in clouds as a low pressure system across the Mississippi valley approaches our area. Rain should begin around sunset likely mixed with snow and sleet especially further inland. All the precipitation should change to plain rain later tonight and continue heavy at times tapering off by sunrise on Saturday. Easterly winds will become gusty tonight with speeds 30-35 mph. Rainfall amounts will average between one and one and a half inches.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy with some showers possible into early in the afternoon.

High pressure will build into the area for Sunday giving us mostly sunny skies but it will be breezy, temperatures will be slightly above normal.

Mainly quiet weather next week with only a low chance of light rain or snow shower Monday night. Temperatures will average slightly above normal Monday and Tuesday and be near normal the rest of the week.

A weak frontal system will give us cloudy skies this morning with some very light rain or drizzle which should end by 8 a.m., followed by clearing this afternoon and becoming quite mild with highs well up into the 50s.

A stronger low pressure system will give us precipitation from late Friday afternoon through Saturday morning. Indications now that the system will produce mainly rain in our area, possibly starting off as a mix of snow and sleet. More snowfall is expected well north and west of our area. Rainfall amounts should be a little over an inch.

Quiet weather is expected Sunday through the middle of next week with only a low chance of rain showers Monday night. Temperatures will be at or slightly above normal.

FEBRUARY 2023 CLIMATE SUMMARY: RECORDS STARTED IN 1973.

February was very mild with an average temperature of 38.6 degrees which tied it for the 3rd warmest, the high temperature was 69 recorded on the 16th while the low was a chilly 1 degree set on the 4th. Precipitation was below normal with 1.41″ falling. Snowfall was also below normal with 5.2″ accumulating almost all of fell on the 27th and 28th.

METEOROLOGICAL WINTER:

Temperatures were well above normal and it was the warmest winter on record. December was near normal but January and February were extremely mild. Precipitation was above normal with December and January being wetter than normal but February was drier than normal. Snowfall was much below normal with only 6.5″ accumulating.
