Becoming quite mild and windy with showers and thunderstorms today! Mostly sunny, windy and cooler on Sunday! Mild much of next week with a chance of showers Wednesday and Thursday!


Skies are cloudy early on this Saturday morning and there was a thunderstorm that moved through the Clifton area around 4 a.m. Early temperatures range from 52 in Clifton down to 42 at Walpack. Winds are mainly calm.

A warm front is moving to our north this morning causing showers and even a thunderstorm in parts of the area. A strong southerly flow will cause temperatures to climb to near 70 degrees. There should be a break in the showers this afternoon with even some sunshine possible, but with a cold front approaching the area this evening some strong to severe thunderstorms may develop causing strong gusty winds and even a slight chance of a tornado or two (no joke). The front will be followed by a brisk northwest flow of cooler and drier air late at night.

Sunday will be a cool and breezy day, winds will diminish by late in the day.

Above normal temperatures much of next week with a chance of showers Wednesday and Thursday followed by clearing and cooler weather for Friday.

At this point Easter weekend looks to be mainly dry with near seasonable temperatures.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – APR 1 – Cloudy with showers and possibly a thunderstorm this morning, partial sunshine this afternoon, windy with gusts to 35 mph. highs in the low 70s.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with showers and possibly a thunderstorm, some storms may be accompanied by strong gusty winds and hail, much cooler after midnight with lows in the mid 30s. Wind gusts to 40 mph likely.

SUNDAY – APR 2 – Sunny, windy and cooler, highs in the low 50s, winds gusting to 35 mph diminishing in the afternoon.

MONDAY – APR 3 – Mostly sunny, highs in the mid 60s.

TUESDAY – APR 4 – Partly sunny, highs in the upper 60s.

WEDNESDAY – APR 5 – Mostly cloudy with showers likely, high in the upper 60s.

THURSDAY – APR 6 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, highs near 70.

FRIDAY – APR 7 – Mostly sunny, breezy and cooler, highs in the upper 50s.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until 8 a.m. Sunday morning for southwest winds becoming northwest after midnight with gusts to 40 knots, seas 7-10 feet.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected Sunday night! advisories possible on Monday; no advisories expected for Tuesday.
