Strong high pressure over our area will give us mostly sunny skies today with milder temperatures and light winds.

As the high pressure moves to the south of us we should have a brisk west-southwest flow of warmer air both Tuesday and Wednesday. With the winds and low humidity there will be a good chance of brush fires both days.

Bermuda high pressure will then dominate our weather Thursday and Friday with even warmer temperature in the 80s with some records possible.

Slightly cooler on the weekend as a trough of low pressure approaches our area. There will be a 20% chance of showers on Saturday and a 30% chance on Sunday.

A strong high pressure will be over us today giving us a sunny day with light winds, temperatures will be a couple of degree milder than yesterday and be near normal.

High pressure will then be in control this week with dry conditions. A weak disturbance moving well to our north will cause higher winds on Wednesday and with dry conditions the chance of brush fires will increase. Temperatures will moderate through the period with highs in the 60s on Monday, 70s on Tuesday and mainly in the 80s Wednesday through Friday.

Saturday may be slightly cooler as a trough moves into the area, however the chance of any showers is only 20%.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR MARCH 2023 (Records started in 1973)

March’s temperature averaged 42.5 degrees which was about 2 degrees above normal. The highest temperature 64 which was recorded on the 21st and 26th. The lowest temperature was 26 degrees on the 20th (this was the first time in March that the temperature failed to drop 25 degrees or lower.

Precipitation totaled 3.88″ which was slightly below normal.

Snowfall was again below normal with 1.9″ accumulating. Total season’s snowfall is at 8.4″ which is the second lowest total since 1973. the lowest was 8.0″ recorded during the 2001-2002 season.

The low pressure that gave us the showers and thunderstorms yesterday has moved off the New England coast as high pressure builds from the west. Today will be a mostly sunny but cooler day with gusty northwest winds to 35 mph diminishing late in the day.

As the high pressure moves off the coast a southwest flow will develop on Monday and with mostly sunny skies it will be milder after a chilly start.

Continued dry and mild on Tuesday.

A frontal system will give us a chance of showers Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will be slightly lower on Wednesday as we will have a more onshore wind, but milder again on Thursday with highs reaching the 70s.

High pressure will then build in for Friday and Saturday with dry conditions, temperatures will be cooler and be near normal for early April.

At this point Easter Sunday looks to be dry and milder.
