The high pressure that gave our area some very pleasant late summer weather is moving off the coast, as a possible tropical low pressure slowly moves up the coast. We should see an increase in clouds today with near seasonable temperatures. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with increasing northeast winds.

Not a very nice weekend as we start off autumn as the low pressure off the Carolina coast starts moving northward. The storm may have some tropical characteristics and may be named Tropical Storm Ophelia. The storm will cause a strong northeast flow of quite cool air with rain beginning around daybreak on Saturday and continue much if not all of the weekend. Wind gusts of 35 mph are possible with higher gusts along the coastal areas. Rain may be heavy at times especially Saturday afternoon and evening. Total rainfall amounts for the weekend will average between 1-3 inches.

Still a chance of showers on Monday as the low dissipates near our area.

At this point we should be mainly dry and cool Tuesday through Thursday.
