Skies are mostly cloudy to cloudy early on this Sunday morning and there is some patchy fog in some spots as the humidity remains high. Temperatures are mostly in the mid to upper 60s. Winds are mainly calm. The air quality is moderate with an index of 55.

A weak front will again be in our area today which will cause cloudy skies most of the day with showers developing mainly after 10 a.m. There still a chance of thunderstorms but they should not be as strong as the last two days, but heavy rain is still possible.

Still a chance of showers on Monday with mostly cloudy skies along with continued high humidity.

Tuesday a weak area of high pressure will build into our area and we should stay dry but humid with partly sunny skies.

Another stronger frontal system will likely give us more showers on Wednesday with the rain possibly heavy at times.

Finally cooler and much less humid with mostly sunny skies Thursday through at least the start of the next weekend.

Hurricane Lee has top winds of 105 mph and is still expected to remain well offshore from our area but building seas and dangerous rip currents are likely beginning on Tuesday and last much of rest of the week.

Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Saturday morning and it is warm and humid with some patchy fog in some areas. Temperatures range from 70 in Clifton down to 64 at Hackettstown, Walpack and High Point. Winds are calm or light northerly. The air quality is moderate with and index of 56.

After having the longest September heatwave since my records began with each day having temperatures of 90 degrees or more, today will be less hot with highs mostly in the mid to upper 80s. The humidity will remain high as a weak front will be in our area. Also afternoon and evening showers are likely with some heavy rain possible.

More of the same on Sunday with high humidity and with showers and thunderstorms again likely, high temperatures will be a couple of degrees cooler than today with highs mainly in the low 80s.

The frontal system will be slow to move through the area so Monday will again be humid with mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms likely.

There may be a brief break in the showers on Tuesday but should redevelop for Wednesday and Thursday.

Finally the trough will move offshore and Friday looks to be a comfortable day with seasonably mild temperatures and much less humidity.

Meanwhile Hurricane Lee has weakened somewhat with top winds of 115 mph, Lee is expected to strengthen again and reach to 140 mph in a couple of days. The track of the storm has it well offshore of our area, but high surf along with dangerous rip currents are likely for our Jersey beaches later this week.

After having record breaking heat yesterday today will be less hot with highs approaching 90 degrees, but the humidity will be higher with dew points in the low 70s. A heat advisory remains in effect. There is a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, some rain may be heavy.

Unsettled weather for the weekend as a front will be in our area. High temperatures will be a little lower but the humidity will remain high. Also showers are likely and possibly some thunderstorms both days mainly in the afternoon and evening.

Still a chance of showers on Monday as the front only slowly moves offshore.

Dry weather is expected on Tuesday but another frontal system will give us a chance of showers again Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures and humidity will slowly decrease.

Meanwhile powerful Hurricane Lee is north of the leeward islands with top winds of 160 mph. Lee is expected to even get stronger with top winds of 180 mph forecasted. The track of the storm still has it off our coast so we should not have any direct impacts of the storm but high waves and dangerous rip currents are likely along the Jersey shore.

Another day of very hot and humid air today with some more record highs possible as the high pressure ridge slowly moves offshore. Highs again will be in the mid 90s and with dew points near 70 will cause heat indexes to be over 100 degrees. A heat advisory is in effect. There is a low chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight mainly to our north and west.

Friday will be less hot as a frontal system approaches our area, but the humidity should rise with dew points in the low to mid 70s. There will be a chance of mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.

Unsettled weather for the weekend with warm temperatures and high humidity and showers will be likely both days but it shouldn’t be a complete washout as there will also be some dry periods.

Still a chance of showers on Monday, then mainly dry with less humidity on Tuesday.

Another frontal system may give us some more showers on Wednesday.

Hurricane Lee is expected to become a powerful hurricane but should stay offshore but will likely cause more dangerous surf along our beaches by late next week.

NOTE: On this day 44 years ago in 1979 Hurricane David caused high winds and power outages in our area. My dad’s cherry tree didn’t survive this storm!

High pressure ridge over us will give us another very hot day with high humidity; we should see less clouds than the last couple of days. Highs will reach the mid 90s and with dew points around 70 will cause heat indexes to rise to near 100 degrees. A heat advisory remains in effect.

Still very hot and humid on Thursday but there may be a little more clouds in the afternoon.

A slow moving frontal system will move into our area on Friday and be in our area over the weekend. There will be a chance of showers on Friday, temperatures will be a little lower but the humidity will remain high. Humid weather will continue on the weekend but with plenty of clouds high temperatures will be lower. Showers will be likely with Saturday may be the wettest day of the weekend.

Showers may persist into Monday followed by drier weather for Tuesday.

Meanwhile Tropical Storm Lee is expected to become a powerful hurricane, as of now the path keeps the storm offshore but high swells and dangerous rip currents should develop by the end of next week.
