Good morning everyone and Happy 2024!

Skies are mainly cloudy early on this New Year’s Day and there are some sprinkles or flurries falling in parts of the area. Temperatures continue to be above normal with readings ranging from 37 in Clifton down to 29 at High Point. Winds are calm or light westerly. The air quality is moderate with an index of 65.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR JANUARY 1ST:

AVERAGE HIGH: 38 AVERAGE LOW: 21

RECORD HIGH: 59 – 2005 RECORD LOW: 3 – 2018

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 42 LOW: 36 PRECIPITATION: NONE

A weak front will cause mostly cloudy skies today with light winds, high temperatures will be in the low-mid 40s.

High pressure will give us dry conditions with continued slightly above normal temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday.

A storm system is expected to develop well to our south and east on Thursday, so the day will be dry, but as the storm moves off the New England coast it will cause breezy and colder conditions Thursday night into Friday.

After a dry and chilly Saturday a storm system will likely give us rain or snow on Sunday. Too early to determine the path and strength of the storm but it is possible that we will have our first measurable snowfall of the season.
