Cool and breezy with rain this morning tapering off to showers by later this afternoon! Warmer on Memorial Day with showers mainly in the morning! Mainly dry and seasonably warm the rest of the week!

Rain is falling over the area early on this Sunday morning and temperatures range from 49 in Clifton down to 44 at High Point. Winds are from the east averaging 5-10 mph. The air quality is good with an index of 35.

The low pressure system that is giving us rain this weekend will slowly move through the area today. Rain will taper off to showers by later this afternoon. With an onshore wind high temperatures will again only be in the 50s.

A warm front will pass through the area tomorrow morning accompanied by showers and thunderstorms and followed by warmer air with only a low chance of afternoon showers. Total additional rain Sunday and Monday will be between 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.

After this rather miserable holiday weekend the weather will turn warm and mainly dry the rest of this week!

TODAY – MAY 24 – Rain this morning tapering off to showers this afternoon, breezy, highs in the upper 50s, wind gusts to 25 mph.

TONIGHT – Cloudy with a chance of showers in the evening then showers likely after midnight, lows in the mid 50s.

MEMORIAL DAY – MAY 25 – Cloudy with showers in the morning then some breaks of sunshine in the afternoon with still a chance of showers, warmer with highs in the mid 70s.

TUESDAY – MAY 26 – Mostly cloudy, highs in the low 80s.

WEDNESDAY – MAY 27 – Partly sunny, highs in the mid 80s.

THURSDAY – MAY 28 – Mostly sunny, highs near 80.

FRIDAY – MAY 29 – Mostly sunny, highs in the mid 70s.

SATURDAY – MAY 30 – Mostly sunny, highs in the mid 70s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Monday morning for easterly winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 6-9 feet.

OUTLOOK: Possible advisories for Monday; no advisories expected Tuesday through Friday.
