Rain this morning followed by some breaks of sunshine by later this afternoon along with milder temperatures! An extended period of mainly dry weather the rest of the week into next weekend, warm Tuesday through Friday then slightly cooler for next weekend!

Skies are cloudy and there is some fog and drizzle falling. Temperatures across the region are mainly in the low 50s. Winds are calm or light northerly. The air quality is good with an index of 31.

The frontal system that gave us the rain and chilly conditions on the weekend will slowly move through our area today. A period of rain is expected from around 6 a.m. through noon with an additional 1/4″ of rainfall likely. Some breaks of sunshine are likely by later this afternoon with milder temperatures.

An extended period of dry weather is expected Tuesday through next weekend as high pressure dominates. High temperatures will be in the 80s Tuesday and Wednesday, the upper 70s Thursday and Friday then mainly in the low 70s for next weekend. The only slight chance of a shower will be Wednesday afternoon as a weak cold front crosses the area.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – MAY 25 – Cloudy with rain mainly from 6 a.m. through noon, then slow clearing by late this afternoon, milder and humid with highs in the mid 70s.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy, lows in the upper 50s.

TUESDAY – MAY 26 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 80s.

WEDNESDAY – MAY 27 – Partly sunny, highs in the mid 80s.

THURSDAY – MAY 28 – Sunny, highs in the upper 70s.

FRIDAY – MAY 29 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 70s.

SATURDAY – MAY 30 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 70s.

SUNDAY – MAY 31 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 70s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect for high seas until 6 p.m. this evening. Winds light and variable, seas 5-6 feet. Strong rip currents likely. Belmar’s ocean temperature is only 54 degrees.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected Tuesday through Thursday.
