Heavy rain is now falling over the Clifton area and a flash flood warning has been issued. Temperatures are in the 70s over the entire area along with dew points in the mid 70s. Winds are light from the south. The air quality is good with an index of 25.

A southerly flow of tropical air will give us showers heavy at times ending by tonight as a cold front crosses the area. Rainfall amounts will average 1-2 inches with some areas possibly reach up to 5 inches. High temperatures will be in the low 80s and dew points in the oppressive mid 70s. The humidity will decrease after the frontal passage tonight.

Much nicer weather on Tuesday with mostly sunny skies and near seasonable temperatures along with much less humidity.

A warm front will move through the area on Wednesday with higher humidity returning along with a chance of showers.

Florida like tropical air will continue Thursday through the weekend with dew points rising to the 70s again as a Bermuda high will dominate our weather. Temperatures will also rise with highs near 90 each day. Also there will be a chance of mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms each day.

TODAY – AUG 3 – Cloudy with showers heavy at times along with some thunderstorms, very humid with highs in the low 80s. A flood watch is in effect for rainfall amounts 1-2 inches with higher amounts possible.

TONIGHT – Showers likely in the evening then clearing and becoming less humid, lows in the mid 60s.

TUESDAY – AUG 4 – Mostly sunny and much more comfortable, highs in the mid 80s.

WEDNESDAY – AUG 5 – Partly sunny and more humid with a chance of showers, highs in the low 80s.

THURSDAY – AUG 6 – Partly sunny and humid with a chance of mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, highs near 90.

FRIDAY – AUG 7 – Partly sunny and humid with a chance of mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, highs near 90.

SATURDAY – AUG 8 – Partly sunny and humid with a chance of mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, highs near 90.

SUNDAY – AUG 9 – Partly sunny and humid with a chance of mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, highs near 90.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday morning for southwest winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 5-8 feet. Belmar’s ocean temperature is 75 degrees.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected Tuesday through Friday.
