Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Thursday morning and temperatures are around 15 degrees milder than this time yesterday ranging from the mid 50s in the Clifton area down to the upper 40s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

A warm front will move north of us today and a light southerly flow of very mild air will move into the area, skies will be mostly cloudy this morning and partly sunny this afternoon.

Another unseasonably mild day on Friday along with partly sunny skies, a cold front will cross the area at night, the front will come through dry so no showers are expected.

Cooler on Saturday as high pressure moves off the New England coast and an onshore flow develops.

A warm front will approach the area Saturday night and move north of our area on Sunday, there is a low chance of some showers with the front, temperatures will again rise to above normal levels.

Unseasonably warm on Monday but a cold front will cross the area at night with a better chance of some showers.

Unsettled weather and cooler weather for the middle of next week with a chance of a storm Wednesday or Thursday.

OCTOBER 2017 CLIMATE SUMMARY!

This past October was the warmest on record here in Clifton with temperatures averaging more than 7 degrees above normal, my records go back to 1973, also it was the warmest at Central Park and their records go back to 1869.   Precipitation totaled 5.37 inches which is above normal, 4.15 inches of that total rainfall came with the storm on October 29-30.  The highest temperature recorded was 84 degrees set on October 5th while the lowest temperature was 38 which occurred on the 17th.

WEDNESDAY  NOVEMBER 1, 2017  5:50 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear early on this first day of November and temperatures are chilly with some frost and freeze in parts of the area, readings range from the upper 30s in the Clifton area down to the upper 20s further inland winds are mainly calm.

Today we should see an increase in clouds as a warm front approaches the area, there is a slight chance of a shower this afternoon and evening but most areas will remain dry.

Much warmer and mostly dry Thursday into Friday as the warm front passes to our north, temperatures both days should reach the low 70s.

A cold front will cross the area Friday evening followed by cooler weather for the weekend, Saturday should stay dry but we may see some shower activity Sunday morning as a warm front approaches.

Mild on Monday with possible showers as a cold front moves through.

Cooler air returns for most of the rest of next week.

TUESDAY  OCTOBER 31, 2017  5:55 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Halloween morning and temperatures range from the mid 40s in the Clifton area down to the mid 30s further inland, winds are light.

High pressure will give us a pleasantly cool day with less wind than yesterday but still a little breezy in the afternoon.  Tonight will be quite cool with overnight temperatures falling into the 30s with some 20s in our outlying suburbs. Some freeze or frost advisories have been posted.

Another dry day on Wednesday but a warm front may touch off some light showers at night.

Mild and mainly dry Thursday and Friday as a southwest flow develops.

Cooler over the weekend with a low chance of a showers from late Saturday until Sunday.

Milder again early next week.

MONDAY  OCTOBER 30, 2017  6:02 A.M.

Skies are cloudy early on this Monday morning and there continues to be some light rain in parts of the area, temperatures range from the low 50s in the Clifton area down to the mid 40s further inland, winds are gusty out of the west.

Yesterday we received 3.94 inches of well needed rain.   The barometer last night fell to 28.90 inches which was the lowest pressure reading since Superstorm Sandy.

The low pressure that gave us the heavy rain and wind is now located over New York state and is moving north into eastern Canada, some showers on the backside of the low will end this morning, it will become very windy with gusts up to 50 mph.  A wind advisory is in effect.

Cool and dry weather Tuesday and during the day on Wednesday.

A warm front may touch off some light showers on Thursday.  Temperatures will be above normal Thursday and Friday with highs reaching to near 70 both days.

A front may cause some showers over the weekend with near normal temperatures.

SUNDAY  OCTOBER 29, 2017  6:11 A.M.

Skies are cloudy early on this Sunday morning and it is quite mild with temperatures ranging from the low 60s in the Clifton area down to the mid 50s further inland, there are some showers in parts of the area.

October 29th has seen some very strong storms the last few years, in 2011 we had 6 inches of wet snow while most trees still had their leaves on them which caused significant power outages and in 2012 we had Superstorm Sandy.   This year we may have to contend with another significant storm that will cause heavy rain and strong winds, power outages are again possible as winds gust to over 40 mph later today and tonight, along with the winds we will have heavy rain, expect an average of 2-4 inches of rainfall with higher amounts possible.  The coastal storm with some tropical connections will move to Southern New Jersey this evening and up into New York state on Monday.

Lingering showers on Monday followed by clearing it still will be very windy with gusts again up to 40 mph, temperatures will be cooler.

High pressure will give our area seasonably cool weather Tuesday and Wednesday.

There is a chance of some showers Wednesday night into Thursday as a warm front moves through the area.

Friday will be quite mild once again but another cold front will cross the area Friday night followed by cool and dry weather for Saturday.
