SUNDAY  OCTOBER 29, 2017  6:11 A.M.

Skies are cloudy early on this Sunday morning and it is quite mild with temperatures ranging from the low 60s in the Clifton area down to the mid 50s further inland, there are some showers in parts of the area.

October 29th has seen some very strong storms the last few years, in 2011 we had 6 inches of wet snow while most trees still had their leaves on them which caused significant power outages and in 2012 we had Superstorm Sandy.   This year we may have to contend with another significant storm that will cause heavy rain and strong winds, power outages are again possible as winds gust to over 40 mph later today and tonight, along with the winds we will have heavy rain, expect an average of 2-4 inches of rainfall with higher amounts possible.  The coastal storm with some tropical connections will move to Southern New Jersey this evening and up into New York state on Monday.

Lingering showers on Monday followed by clearing it still will be very windy with gusts again up to 40 mph, temperatures will be cooler.

High pressure will give our area seasonably cool weather Tuesday and Wednesday.

There is a chance of some showers Wednesday night into Thursday as a warm front moves through the area.

Friday will be quite mild once again but another cold front will cross the area Friday night followed by cool and dry weather for Saturday.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – OCT 29 – Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, some storms may be accompanied by heavy rain, becoming windy, high in the upper 60s.

TONIGHT – Showers and a possible thunderstorm, windy, rain may be heavy at times,  low in the upper 40s.

MONDAY – OCT 30 – Cloudy with a chance of showers before 9 a.m. then gradual clearing, windy, high around 60.

HALLOWEEN – OCT 31 – Sunny, high in the upper 50s.

WEDNESDAY – NOV 1 – Partly sunny, high in the upper 50s, chance of showers at night.

THURSDAY – NOV 2 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the mid 60s.

FRIDAY – NOV 3 – Partly sunny, high near 70.

SATURDAY – NOV 4 – Mostly sunny, high near 60.

MARINE FORECAST:  A gale warning is in effect until 6 p.m. on Monday.  Today – Southeast wind to 45 knots, seas 7-12 feet.

SATURDAY  OCTOBER 28, 2017  5:45 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Saturday morning, temperatures range from the mid 40s in the Clifton area down to the lower 30s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

Today will be a mild day as high pressure slowly moves offshore, we should see some increase in clouds by this afternoon as a slow moving front approaches the area.

An intense low pressure storm is expected to develop along the front on Sunday, showers will develop before daybreak and become heavy at times in the afternoon and night, a flash flood watch is in effect as 2-3 inches of rain is expected with some areas  possibly getting over 6 inches.  Strong southeast winds will become west by night.

Lingering showers should end Monday morning but it will be very windy with gusts up to 40 mph.

Dry and cool Tuesday and Wednesday as high pressure builds into the area.

Chance of showers Wednesday night into Thursday as a weak front moves through the area.

Dry and mild weather expected for Friday.

Skies are mostly clear on this Friday morning and temperatures are cool ranging from the low 40s in the Clifton area down to the lower 30s further inland, these early morning readings are near normal for this time of year.

High pressure will move slowly offshore with a return flow of milder air after a chilly morning, skies will be sunny.

Even a bit milder and dry on Saturday but we should see some increasing cloudiness by the afternoon.

A coastal storm will affect the area on Sunday giving us rain heavy at time along with gusty winds, at this time an average of 1-3 inches of rain is expected.

Some showers Monday morning followed by clearing, winds will be strong out of the northwest with gusts up to 40 mph.

Mainly dry with near seasonable temperatures Tuesday through Thursday although there may be some light showers Wednesday night into Thursday.

THURSDAY  OCTOBER 26, 2017  6:03 A.M.

Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Thursday morning and temperatures are cooler than the last couple of morning ranging from the low 50s in the Clifton area down to the low 40s further inland, these readings are still about 10 degrees above normal.

Today we will have a mix of sun and clouds as the front that gave us the rain on Tuesday only slowly moves further offshore, there is a slight chance of a shower but most areas will stay dry.

Mostly sunny on Friday and slightly milder in the afternoon after a chilly morning.

Saturday will be a dry and mild day.

A coastal storm is expected to affect our area on Sunday, this storm may have some tropical connection from a disturbance in the western Caribbean.  Heavy rain with strong winds are likely, at this time an average of 1-3 inches of rain is expected.

Next week will be seasonably cool, there is a low chance of a shower on Wednesday as a weak front moves through the area.

WEDNESDAY  OCT 25, 2017  5:51 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Wednesday morning although there is some patchy fog in some of the inland areas, temperatures are mild once again ranging from the upper 50s in the Clifton area down to the upper 40s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

Yesterday we only received .40 inches of rain as most of the heaviest rain fell over Long Island and Connecticut.

Today we will have a mix of clouds and sunshine, temperatures will be seasonably mild with highs near 70.

Cooler Thursday and Friday with dry conditions, temperatures will be near normal levels.

A little milder on Saturday and we should continue to be dry.

The next chance of significant rain will be Sunday afternoon into Monday as low pressure moves along a front near our area.
