Skies are cloudy again early on this Friday morning and there are some showers falling over parts of the area. Temperatures are mild with readings ranging from 38 in Clifton down to 34 at High Point. Winds are mainly calm. The air quality is moderate with an index of 65.

A weak cold front is crossing the area and we will have cloudy skies this morning with a chance of some light rain showers. Finally some clearing by this afternoon. Highs will be in the low 40s with a gusty northerly wind developing later today.

Very nice weather for this weekend with plenty of sunshine both days along with temperatures a little above normal as high pressure builds from the Great Lakes.

High pressure will control our weather next week giving us dry and pleasant weather, Temperatures will be near normal through the middle of the week then become above normal towards the end of the week.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR JANUARY 2024 (Records go back to 1973)

This January temperatures were above normal averaging 34.2 degrees. The highest temperature was 60 recorded on the 13th, the lowest temperature was 14 recorded on the 17th. Precipitation was well above normal again with 7.38″ The most significant rain was on the 9th with over 3″ which caused extensive river flooding in our area. Snowfall was a little below normal with 7.4″ accumulating.

For the first time in over a week we will have a nice sunrise this morning but as a cold front approaches from the northwest clouds will again increase this afternoon and some rain showers are likely overnight. Temperatures will be mild with highs in the upper 40s.

Still seasonably mild on Friday but we will again have more clouds than sun.

Plenty of sunshine both Saturday and Sunday with temperatures a little above normal as high pressure builds from the west.

Dry weather should continue through the middle of next week with plenty of sunshine each day with near seasonable temperatures.
