Today will be unseasonably mild ahead of a cold front, highs will be well up into the 60s with some record highs possible. Rain from the cold front is expected from around 5 p.m. until midnight.

Cooler Friday through the beginning of next week as temperatures move closer to normal. Some weak disturbances moving through the area may touch off some showers Friday morning and again Saturday night, some showers Saturday night may be mixed with some snow.

A warm front will pass to our north today with rain developing around 10 a.m. although an earlier shower is possible. Temperatures will be mild with highs in the 50s. The showers should end early this evening but skies will remain mostly cloudy. Temperatures tonight will be very mild in the mid to upper 50s.

A cold front will approach the area on Wednesday preceded by a south-southwest flow of unseasonably mild with highs in the 60s despite cloudy skies, some records are possible. Showers are expected in the afternoon and at night.

Thursday will be cooler but still well above normal. A weak disturbance will give us a chance of showers late Thursday night into Friday morning.

At this point the weekend looks to be mainly dry with temperatures closer to normal which will feel chilly after the last few days of very mild air.

Today will be another pleasant and mild winter day with partly sunny skies, light winds and highs mainly in the 50s.

A weak frontal system will move into our area on Tuesday with a chance of showers mainly from late morning through the evening, temperatures will continue to be mild.

Unseasonably mild on Wednesday with some record highs possible along with high humidity. Skies will be mainly cloudy with some rain likely in the afternoon continuing into Thursday morning.

A weak low offshore will give us another chance of precipitation Thursday night into Friday that may briefly start as a mixture of snow and rain.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY; RECORDS BEGAN IN 1973!

DECEMBER 2022 – Temperatures during the month were slightly above normal with an average temperature of 36.3 degrees. The highest temperature was 66 degrees on the 30th which was the highest December temperature since 2015. The low was a frigid 5 degrees set on the 24th which was the coldest December temperature since 1989. Precipitation was above normal with 5.67″ recorded. Snowfall was much below normal with only 0.8″ which fell on the 11th.

2022 – The year’s average temperature was again above normal for the year. The highest temperature was 99 on July 24th and the lowest was the 5 degrees set on December 24th. Rainfall was slightly above normal and total snowfall was below normal.

The disturbance that gave us the rain and foggy weather yesterday is moving offshore as high pressure builds in from the west. Drier air moving in will help dissipate any fog this morning and we should have mostly sunny skies, a little breezy but with continued mild temperatures.

Monday will continue to be dry and mild with high pressure over our area.

A frontal system will give us a good chance of showers mainly Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday but it will be unseasonably mild with highs close to 60 on Tuesday and well up into the 60s on Wednesday with some record highs possible. A cold front will come through Wednesday night.

Cooler on Thursday but with still slightly above normal temperatures.

There is a slight chance of some snow flurries on Friday as a weak coastal storm develops but at this time it looks to be too far off shore to cause any measurable snowfall. Temperatures will cool to near normal.

After yesterday’s record high today will be not as mild but temperatures will continue to be well above normal with highs in the 50s. Showers are likely mainly from around 1 p.m. this afternoon through 1 a.m. late tonight as a frontal system moves through the area. Rainfall amounts will average around 1/4″

High pressure will build into the area for New Year’s Day producing sunny skies and continued mild temperatures.

The well above normal temperatures should continue much of next week with showers again possible from Tuesday afternoon through early Thursday morning.
