The remains of Ian which is now over Virginia, along with strong high pressure to our north, will combine to give us a brisk northeast flow of cool air. Skies will remain cloudy with a chance of mainly light rain, especially to our south and east.

The remains of Ian will then redevelop off the coast Monday and Tuesday but at this time most if not all of the precipitation will remain to our south and east. Winds will still be brisk out of the northeast with some coastal flooding likely.

Finally some clearing with milder temperatures Wednesday through Friday as high pressure moves into our area. A cold front should cross our area on Friday followed by a dry but cool weather for next weekend.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR SEPTEMBER 2022

Temperatures averaged slightly above normal for the month. Highest temperature was 89 recorded on the 4th and the lowest temperature was 45 degrees on the 24th.

Precipitation was slightly below normal with 3.51″ accumulating. The wettest day was on the 6th with 1.05″.

The remnants of ex-Hurricane Ian will give us periods of rain today along with quite cool temperatures and a brisk northeast wind.

Sunday will be another cloudy day and again unseasonably cool with winds still brisk out of the northeast. There will be a good chance of showers throughout the day.

At this point next week will be mainly dry, it will start off cool and breezy Monday and Tuesday with milder temperatures Wednesday through the end of the week.

Today we will see an increase in clouds as Hurricane Ian moves into South Carolina today. Temperatures will be a couple of degrees cooler due to more clouds and a light onshore wind.

The remnants of Ian will likely cause rain in our area on Saturday with still a chance of showers on Sunday. Temperatures will be cool and the wind will become gusty especially over the coastal areas. Rainfall amounts will be one to one and half inches.

Still unsettled weather as the upper low associated with Ian will cause cloudy skies with a chance of rain at least through Tuesday.

Somewhat milder Wednesday and Thursday with more sunshine.

A strong high pressure building from the Great Lakes will give us a sunny day with near seasonable temperatures.

Continued dry on Friday with a little more clouds and slightly cooler temperatures.

The moisture from now Tropical Storm Ian that caused destructive winds and storm surge in southwest Florida yesterday will move into our area this weekend. Rain is likely on Saturday with a chance of showers on Sunday, rainfall will be light in our area but heavier to our south.

Unsettled weather with cool temperatures early next week as the remnants of Ian move off the coast.
