Light snow is falling in our area early this morning and here in the Clifton area we have our first measurable snow of the season as around 1/2″ coating has accumulated. Temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 29 in Clifton down to 22 at High Point. Winds are mainly calm.

The weak disturbance which caused the overnight light snow will be moving offshore and the snow should end by dawn. We should see some sunshine by later this morning and temperatures will rise into the upper 40s which will more than likely melt the snow that is on the ground this morning. We should see an increase in clouds again by this evening.

Christmas Day will be mild but with periods of mainly light rain, some of the rain will start off as a mixture of sleet or snow mainly well inland. High temperatures will be near 50 degrees.

Clearing on Sunday with continued mild temperatures but it will be a bit windy.

Unsettled weather much of next week as a few weak disturbances move through our area. Temperatures however will average above normal so any precipitation should be mainly in the form of rain.

High pressure will dominate our weather today giving us a mostly sunny but chilly day but with much less wind than yesterday.

A weak warm front approaching from the southwest will give our area a chance of flurries or light snow after midnight tonight. A coating of snow is possible across sections of northwest New Jersey. The front will be followed by clearing during the day with high temperatures on Friday a few degrees higher than today.

A weak frontal system will likely give us some light rain on Christmas mainly in the morning, temperatures will be mild with highs near 50.

Sunday will be a dry and mild day but it will be windy.

A few weak disturbances will keep our weather unsettled Monday through Wednesday with the chance of light precipitation each day that may be mixed with snow Monday and Tuesday mornings especially further inland.

A storm system is moving off the coast and the light precipitation should end by 7 a.m. followed by clearing and becoming windy. Temperatures will be mild with highs mainly in the upper 40s.

A brief cold surge will be with us on Thursday with lows in the morning in the 20s and high will struggle to reach 40. Skies will start off mostly sunny but we should have increasing cloudiness by the afternoon.

A weak disturbance will give us a chance of snow showers early Friday morning that may coat the ground especially to our north and west. Then high pressure will build into the area during the day giving us mostly sunny conditions along with seasonably mild temperatures.

A weak disturbance will give us chance of rain Friday night into Christmas Day, some of the rain may be mixed with snow across inland areas but change to rain. Temperatures will be mild with highs in the upper 40s to near 50.

Sunday will be a breezy and seasonably mild day along with partly sunny skies.

Skies are clear early on this Monday morning and temperatures have fallen to the lowest of the season so far with readings at 5 a.m. ranging from 22 in Clifton down to 15 at Walpack. Although it is cold these readings are only a degree or two below normal. Winds are light from the north.

Strong high pressure will be with us today providing sunny skies, high temperatures will only reach the upper 30s to around 40, but with less wind it will not feel as harsh as yesterday.

As the high pressure moves offshore a southwest flow of milder air will move into the area on Tuesday, temperatures will reach the upper 40s with plenty of sunshine. A weak cold front will cross the area in the afternoon.

A storm is expected to develop on Wednesday but remain far enough to our east to cause any precipitation in our area, but we should have mostly cloudy skies with breezy conditions, temperatures will remain slightly above normal.

Sunshine will return on Thursday and it will be seasonably cold.

Friday will be partly sunny during the day but a warm front will cause an increase in clouds along with a chance of light rain at night.

Christmas Day looks to be mild with highs in the low 50s but with a chance of showers.
