Skies are partly cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures range from the low 30s in Clifton down to the upper 20s further inland, winds are mainly light southwesterly.

The low pressure that gave our area the heavy rain on Monday has moved to Quebec which will give us another breezy and cold day today. Some clouds this morning but the afternoon should be mostly sunny.

High pressure building into the area will give us another sunny day on Thursday with slightly milder temperatures.

Friday will start off dry but a low pressure system will give us a good chance of rain from Friday night through at least Sunday morning. The models continue to not be in agreement with the outcome of this system so the confidence in this forecast remains low.

Mainly dry with temperatures slightly below normal early next week.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR NOVEMBER 2020.

The average temperature for the month was 6.5 degrees above normal making this the second warmest November since 1973 with 1975 being the warmest. Central Park recorded its warmest November while Newark airport had the 6th warmest November. The highest temperature was 82 degrees on the 9th, the lowest 25 degrees recorded on the 19th. Precipitation was above normal with 6.07″ falling, 2.66″ of which fell on the 30th. No snow was reported.

The low pressure that gave us the heavy rain and strong winds along with a rare late November thunderstorm has moved to northern New York state and will cause mostly cloudy skies with a low chance of an afternoon light shower. Temperatures will fall from 50 this morning down to the mid 40s by sunset. Winds will be brisk but not as windy as yesterday with gusts to 30 mph.

Dry weather with near seasonable temperatures Wednesday and Thursday as high pressure builds into our area.

The weather from Friday through the weekend will be unsettled with very low agreement among the computer models so there is a much lower confidence on the forecast than usual. As of now we will predict a chance of rain each day with even some snow mixed with rain late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

A storm system will be moving into our area this morning with rain developing around 8-9 a.m. becoming heavy at times later this morning and continuing into this evening with even a chance of thunderstorms. Strong southeast winds will gust close to 40 mph. Rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are expected. Temperatures will be quite mild with highs in the 60s.

An upper level low will give our area a chance of showers on Tuesday, highs will be in the morning and then fall by sunset.

Mainly dry weather Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures will be slightly below normal on Wednesday and slightly higher than normal on Thursday.

Unsettled weather Friday into the weekend but at this time the computer models are not in agreement but the best chance of precipitation would be Friday night into Saturday but that will most likely change. Temperatures will be near or slightly above normal.

High pressure will be over our area and then move off the coast this afternoon, we should have mostly sunny skies with temperatures slightly above normal in the mid 50s.

Strong low pressure will give us rain heavy at times beginning near daybreak on Monday and become heavy at times through Monday evening with even a chance of thunderstorms. Strong southeast winds will gust to near 40 mph. Temperatures will be quite mild with highs in the 60s. Rainfall amounts of 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches are likely.

Still a chance of showers on Tuesday with cooler temperatures.

Mainly dry Wednesday through Friday with near seasonable temperatures.

A weak cold front will cross the area this morning just associated with some cloudy skies and a slight chance of a sprinkle. It should become mostly sunny this afternoon. High tempertures will be cooler than the last couple of days but stay above normal with readings in the mid 50s.

Another nice day on Sunday, skies will be mostly sunny in the morning but we should see an increase in clouds by late in the day as high pressure moves off the coast.

Monday will be stormy with heavy rain and strong winds especially in the afternoon and at night. Rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are possible along with southeast winds gusting to 45 mph.

The rest of next week will be mainly dry with temperatures at or slightly below normal.
