Skies are clear early on this Thursday morning and with nearly calm winds there is a wide range in temperatures with readings in the mid 40s in Clifton down to a chilly 27 at Walpack.

High pressure moving off the coast will provide us with partly sunny skies today and we should see an increase in clouds as a warm front approaches the area, high temperatures will be slightly below normal.

The warm front will move to our north Friday morning possibly accompanied by showers and followed by warm air with temperatures rising to well up into the 80s. A cold front will cross the area at night with some strong to possibly severe thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening.

Saturday will be mostly sunny and seasonably mild.

Sunday will be cooler as high pressure builds from the north and an onshore flow develops, skies will be partly sunny and there is a chance of rain at night.

Cool with rain likely Monday and Tuesday as an onshore flow continues and low pressure moves into our area.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Wednesday morning and once again it is unseasonably cool. At 5:30 a.m. the temperature at my station has fallen to 36 degrees which breaks the record low. Inland it is below freezing with a 26 degree reading recorded at Walpack.

High pressure building into our area will give us another sunny and cool day today, high temperatures will be similar to yesterday but there will be less wind.

The high pressure will move off the coast on Thursday and it will be slightly milder but we should see an increase in clouds by the afternoon and there will be a chance of showers at night as a warm front approaches our area.

Friday will be a warm day, there will be a chance of showers in the morning as the warm front pushes to our north and also a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms as a cold front approaches the area.

Saturday will be a sunny but it will be slightly cooler.

Sunday and Monday will be cooler as an onshore flow develops and there will be considerable cloudiness with a chance of showers.

Dry with near seasonable tempertures on Tuesday.

High pressure building into the area will provide area with plenty of sunshine and it will be breezy, temperatures will reach around 60 degrees which is about 10 degrees below normal.

Chilly tonight with lows again in the 30s, some frost or freeze warnings possible further inland. During the day on Wednesday it will be cool again with sunny skies but with less wind than today.

A little milder on Thursday and the day will be dry but a warm front may cause some showers at night.

Much warmer on Friday with a southwest flow but there will be a chance of showers as a cold front approaches from the west.

Saturday should be dry and a few degrees cooler.

Another frontal system will give us a chance of showers Saturday night through Monday with near normal temperatures.

Looking ahead it appears that the rest of next week will be quite warm.

Note: In Central Park yesterday the temperature dropped to a record 34 degrees which was the coldest so late in the season and also the coldest May temperature since 1891.

After yesterday’s record cold and snow showers today will be milder, but it will still be below normal as high pressure builds toward the area. Skies will start off mostly sunny but we should see an increase in clouds this afternoon.

A weak cold front will give our area a chance of showers on Monday, temperatures will be slightly cooler than today.

Dry weather Tuesday through Thursday but with cool conditions continuing. There may be some frost early Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

Finally some warmer air will move into our area on Friday and continue into the weekend although there may be some scattered showers.
