Cold weather to persist into the weekend, some flurries today!


Skies are cloudy at 6 a.m. this morning and temperatures are ranging from near 20 in the Clifton area to the teens inland, winds are light.

A low pressure is moving off the southeast coast this morning, skies will be cloudy here today with a chance of some flurries, at most we will pick up a coating of snow with measurable snow further south across Southern New Jersey, temperatures will not rise much with most readings staying in the 20s.

Dry and cold weather Friday through the day on Sunday.

A low pressure area will give the area a chance of snow Sunday night into Monday morning.

Dry and seasonably cold during the day on Tuesday.

Another low pressure system may give us more precipitation Tuesday night into Wednesday, at this time it looks like it will fall as a mix bag of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain.

TODAY – Cloudy with a chance of snow flurries, high in the upper 20s.

TONIGHT – Cloudy, low in the mid teens.

FRIDAY – Partly sunny, high in the upper 20s.

SATURDAY – Sunny, high in the upper 20s.

SUNDAY – Mostly cloudy, high in the mid 30s, chance of snow at night.

MONDAY – Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow, mainly in the morning, high in the low 40s.

TUESDAY – Mostly cloudy, high in the upper 30s, chance of rain or snow at night.

WEDNESDAY – Cloudy with a chance of snow or rain, high in the mid 40s.

 

MARINE FORECAST:  Small craft advisory in effect till 1 a.m. on Friday for northerly winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 3-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Friday and Saturday with small craft advisories possible Sunday and Monday.

Not as cold today but more Arctic air in the area tomorrow into Saturday; No significant precipitation through the weekend!


Skies are partly cloudy early this morning and temperatures are quite cold although not as frigid as yesterday morning’s readings as we have temperatures ranging from 11 in Clifton to some single digits in the colder suburbs, winds are nearly calm.

Today we will have mostly sunny skies and slightly milder temperatures with readings reaching the mid 30s which is still below normal for this time of year.  Arctic air will move in tonight with lows falling back to the teens.

More Arctic air will cause temperatures to be once again well below normal tomorrow into Saturday with highs only in the 20s, no significant precipitation is expected through the weekend but we have a slight chance of some flurries on Thursday as a low pressure moves off the Southeast coast.

Not as cold on Sunday with partly sunny skies.

The next chance of significant precipitation is from a low pressure that may give us some snow mixed with sleet and freezing rain late Sunday night changing to plain rain Monday afternoon.

Another low pressure area will give us a chance of snow again on Tuesday.

Record low temperatures once again this morning; Mainly quite cold and dry weather through the weekend!


The temperature here in Clifton at 6 a.m. has dropped down to zero, this is the sixth record low here in the last nine days since I began my records in 1973.   Many temperatures are well below zero in the area with -17 degrees reported in Walpack, NJ.  Winds are nearly calm and the skies are clear.

Today will be a mostly sunny day but temperatures will only reach around 20 degrees despite the increased late February sun angle.  Tonight will not be as frigid as lows should occur this evening and may rise somewhat toward tomorrow morning, temperatures this time tomorrow may be more than 20 degrees warmer than now.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny and not quite as frigid as highs reach the 30s.

Another Arctic surge of cold air will be with us to close the week, it should not be as extreme as the last few cold blasts but still well below normal for the last few days of February.

The weekend will be mainly dry with a slight moderation in temperatures.

The next chance of significant precipitation will be next Monday and at this time it appears that we should start off as snow and then chance to rain as temperatures reach the low 40s.

Arctic air returning to the area today; Unseasonably cold week ahead with little or no precipitation!


Skies are mostly cloudy and temperatures are still in the upper 20s, winds have picked up from the northwest gusting to 25 mph.

An Arctic cold front is crossing the area now and temperatures will fall into the teens by later this morning and stay that way throughout the day, winds will continue to gust to 25 mph dropping wind chills to below zero.  Some cloudiness this morning will give way to mostly sunny skies this afternoon.

Record cold again likely tonight with lows approaching zero in the Clifton area to well below zero in the colder valleys, winds will diminish and become quite light, skies will be clear.

Another cold day on Tuesday with temperatures continuing well below normal despite plenty of sunshine.

Not as cold on Wednesday but another Arctic cold front will be approaching the area.

Very cold again Thursday and Friday but not as extreme as the our previous Arctic blasts, we will continue to stay dry.

Somewhat milder over the weekend with only a low chance of some precipitation on Sunday.

Light snow ending this morning; 40 degrees possible this afternoon followed by more bitter cold that will be around most of the week!


We have light snow falling early this morning with temperatures are in the “balmy” upper 20s which is about 25 degrees higher than yesterday morning at this time, winds are calm, we picked up around 4 inches of snow.  Most of the precipitation did fall as snow but there was some freezing rain around midnight.

Today the snow will end around 9am with clearing by noon, temperatures may actually hit 40 degrees which is still a little below normal for this time of year.

Much colder Arctic air will be rushing into the area by tomorrow morning with lows in the teens and not rising much during the day with highs only reaching the 20 degree mark despite mostly sunny skies, winds will pick up and wind chill values will once again be below zero.

Diminishing winds late Monday night but temperatures will fall to near zero by Tuesday morning.

Continued very cold on Tuesday despite more sunshine.

Somewhat milder on Wednesday as temperatures may reach above freezing but there is a chance of morning snow showers.

A return to much below normal temperatures again for Thursday and Friday but we will remain dry.

A moderation of temperatures next weekend but another storm system may give us some precipitation Saturday night and Sunday.
