Skies are mainly clear early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures have fallen to the lowest so far this season with readings at 5 a.m. ranging from 38 in Clifton down to 29 at Walpack, these temperatures however are only a couple of degrees below normal. There is patchy frost in parts of the area and winds are mainly calm or light westerly.

We will have some patch frost early this morning then we should see plenty of sunshine with cooler than normal temperatures with highs in the low 50s. Winds will be light.

An extended period of dry weather is expected tomorrow through early next week as high pressure will dominate. There will be a coastal storm developing on the weekend but should stay well east of the area to affect our weather. Temperatures will be below normal tomorrow through Saturday, near normal on Sunday and then above normal through at least early next week.

A weak cold front crossing our area today will give us mostly cloudy skies with cool temperatures.

Tonight will start off mostly cloudy then we will have gradual clearing late tonight with patchy frost and a frost advisory is in effect. A freeze warning is in effect across northwest New Jersey.

Mainly dry and cool weather tomorrow through the weekend, highs will be mostly in the 50s with overnight lows in the 30s.

Present indications that next week will be milder with above normal tempertures likely.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR OCTOBER 2021.

Temperatures were well above normal and it was the 2nd warmest October since my records began in 1973. The highest temperature was 85 recorded on the 15th and the lowest was 42 on the 19th (This was the first October that the temperatures did not fall into the 30s) Rainfall totaled 8.46″ which made the month the 3rd wettest with most of the rain falling between the 25th through the 27th when 6.04″ fell.

Today will be a sunny day and a little breezy as high pressure builds in the area, high temperatures will be cooler than yesterday but still a bit above normal.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy and cooler as a weak cold front crosses our area.

Generally chilly the rest of the week and we may have our first frost of the season Wednesday night. There is a low chance of showers Thursday night through Saturday but much of the area will remain dry.

The low pressure system that gave us the rain the last couple of days is moving off the New England coast and after some early morning showers we should stay mainly dry the rest of the day. High temperatures will again be in the 60s which is above normal for the last day of October.

Mainly dry weather most of this coming week except for the possibility of some rain towards Friday and Saturday. Temperatures will start off above normal on Monday and then be below normal the rest of the week.

A low pressure system will continue to give us cloudy skies today. There may be a break in the rain this morning before more rain moves back into the area this afternoon and continuing into tonight. Most of the rain will be light with an additional 1/2 inch of rainfall possible. Temperatures will be milder today with much less wind.

We should see some clearing on Halloween and it will be mild, there is a slight chance of a shower mainly in the morning.

Mainly dry weather next week, temperatures will be a little above normal on Monday but fall to below normal readings the rest of the week. The only chance of rain will be Thursday into Friday as a low pressure may move into our area.
