Skies are mostly clear early on this Saturday morning and temperatures are nearly 40 degrees colder than this time yesterday ranging from 21 in Clifton down to 13 at Walpack and Sandyston. Winds are mainly calm.

Today we will see an increase in cloudiness as a cold front approaches our area. The front will move through this afternoon possibly accompanied by a snow squall, if the squall does occur it will only last about 15 minutes but look like a blizzard which may give us a dusting of snow on the ground. Also it will become very windy this afternoon and tonight with some gusts over 45 mph and a wind advisory is in effect.

Sunday will be sunny and cold but with much less wind than today as the high pressure will be nearly over the region.

Presidents Day looks to be the nicest day of next week with plenty of sunshine and milder temperatures.

Rain is expected Tuesday afternoon and night with continued mild temperatures.

Wednesday will be quite mild despite having mostly cloudy skies, a cold front will cross the area in the afternoon and at night.

A frontal system will affect our area Thursday into Friday, it will be colder which may give us some wintery precipitation.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – FEB 19 – Increasing cloudiness and becoming very windy with a chance of a brief heavy snow squall this afternoon, high in the low 40s, winds gusting to 45 mph possible and a wind advisory is in effect.

TONIGHT – Mostly clear and windy in the evening with diminishing winds after midnight, low in the mid teens.

Showers are falling over much of the area early on this Friday morning and it is unseasonably mild with temperatures at 5 a.m. ranging from 62 in Clifton down to 55 at High Point, winds are gusting to near 40 mph from the southwest.

A strong cold front will cross the area around sunrise with strong southwest winds becoming northwest gusting at times over 40 mph. Showers will end also around daybreak with much colder air moving into the area, temperatures that are in the low 60s now will fall to the mid 30s by sunset. Skies will become mostly sunny by this afternoon.

Saturday we will see some increasing cloudiness with a chance of snow showers in the afternoon as a weak cold front crosses the area, winds will again gust to near 40 mph.

Sunday will be a sunny and cold day with less wind.

Milder Monday through Wednesday and showers are expected from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning.

Cooler on Thursday with a low chance of light snow or rain.

Strong south to southwest wind today will boost temperatures in the low 60s despite plenty of clouds.

A strong cold front will approach our area tonight and move off the coast early Friday morning. Rain from this system will fall from around 9 p.m. tonight though 7 a.m. tomorrow morning with about 3/4 of an inch likely. Winds will become even stronger with gusts above 45 mph and a wind advisory is in effect.

We should see clearing during the day on Friday and it will become colder with brisk northwest winds. Temperatures in the upper 50s in the early a.m. will drop to the mid to upper 30s by sunset.

Chilly and windy weather for the weekend and it will be mainly dry but there is a slight chance of flurries during the day on Saturday as a weak cold front crosses our area.

Milder weather returns by Monday with a chance of showers Tuesday into Wednesday.

Strong high pressure off the coast will give our area a southerly flow of milder air today as high temperatures reach the upper 40s which will feel warm after out very cold weather of the past few days. Skies will be mostly sunny in the morning but we should see some increase in clouds by late in the day.

Very mild on Thursday as a south-southwest flow continued which will raise temperatures into the low 60s despite mostly cloudy skies.

The strong cold front will be moving through the area Thursday night into Friday morning with rain heavy at times and strong winds gusting to over 40 mph at times. Rainfall amounts of 1/2 to 1 inch.

Gradual clearing by noon on Friday but it will be windy. Temperatures in the 50s in the morning will fall to the upper 30s by sunset.

The weekend weather will be dry with seasonably cool temperatures.

Mild weather will return next week with a chance of showers on Tuesday.

Very strong high pressure will be over our area today providing us with plenty of sunshine, it will remain quite cold but high temperatures will be a couple of degrees higher than yesterday with less wind.

As the high pressure moves offshore a southerly flow will develop on Wednesday giving us milder temperatures but clouds will increase.

Thursday will be very mild with highs in the 60s as a strong southerly flow continues, there is a chance of showers in the afternoon but the steady and heavy rain will be at night into early Friday morning along with winds that may gust over 40 mph. Rainfall totals will be around one inch.

Gradual clearing on Friday, it will start off mild with temperatures well up in the 50s in the morning dropping off to the 40s by sunset.

The weekend weather still looks to be dry with near seasonable temperatures.

Mild weather will return by Monday and be with us much of next week.
