Continued quite warm and humid today with afternoon thunderstorms possible!


Good morning everyone!

Skies are mostly clear early this morning and temperatures range from the low 70s in the Clifton area down to the mid 60s further inland.  The humidity has dropped a little with dew points in the upper 60s, winds are mainly calm.

Today will be quite warm and humid again and there is a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, most of this activity will be west of our area across Eastern Pennsylvania and the western part of New Jersey.  Dew points should rise into the oppressive low 70s again.  A high pressure ridge located offshore and a front to our west will continue the southerly flow of tropical air.

Warm and humid again on Friday with a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm again mainly inland.  Showers and thunderstorms will be more likely Friday night into early Saturday morning as a stronger trough of low pressure moves into the area.

After a chance of lingering showers on Saturday we should see more sunshine by the afternoon, it will still be warm and humid.

A more westerly wind will cause dry conditions but becoming hot Sunday and Monday.

A cold front is expected to give us more showers Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.

MARINE FORECAST:  A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Friday morning for southwest wind gusting to 30 knots, seas 4-7 feet.  Belmar’s ocean temperature is 76 degrees.

OUTLOOK – Possible small craft conditions on Friday;  no advisories expected Saturday through Monday.

 

CLIFTON MONTHLY SUMMARY – JULY 2018.

Temperatures averaged 1.8 degrees above normal.   Maximum temperature was 99 degrees recorded on the 2nd.  Minimum temperature was 57 on the 8th.

Precipitation was well above normal with 7.94″ which is nearly double of the average and it was the wettest July since 2004.

Warm and very humid today with scattered showers and thunderstorms! Humidity and a chance of showers continue Thursday through Saturday!


Good morning everyone!

Skies are cloudy across the region early this morning and there are some showers to our south and west,  temperatures range from the low 70s in Clifton to the mid 60s in some areas further inland,  the humidity is high with dew points around 70…

A warm front will cause some shower and thunderstorm activity this morning, after the front it will become warm and very humid with dew points in the oppressive low to mid 70s.  Skies will be mostly cloudy throughout the day and there will be some more scattered shower activity this afternoon and evening, some of the storms may be accompanied by heavy rain and strong gusty winds especially inland.

Quite warm and very humid weather will continue tomorrow through at least Saturday with a continued threat of mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms each day.  A strong high pressure will be offshore as a weakening cold front approaches from the west.

Less of a chance of shower activity Sunday through early next week and with more sunshine it will become hot and the humidity will remain high..

Good morning everyone!

Skies are partly cloudy early this morning and temperatures range from the upper 60s in the Clifton area down to the upper 50s in some inland spots, winds are mostly calm and the humidity is moderate.

A warm front approaching from the south will move into our area late tonight.  We should see considerable amounts of clouds but we should stay dry through this evening, high temperatures will be in the low 80s and the humidity will be slowly increasing.

The warm front will move north of our area by Wednesday morning associated with showers and thunderstorms.  The humidity will rise as dew points reach the oppressive low 70s.

Chance of showers and thunderstorms continue Thursday and Friday as a strong high pressure offshore along with a front to our west will give us moist tropical air, it will not be a washout but the best chances of rain will be in the afternoon both days.

Some lingering showers possible on Saturday but at this point Sunday looks to be dry but continued quite warm and humid.

Looking ahead it appears that next week will be hot and humid but with less of a chance of showers.

High pressure over the area today will give us one more comfortably warm day, however we will see an increase in cloudiness as a warm front to our south slowly approaches our area.

Tomorrow will be a cloudy day as the warm front passes through the area at night, we should have some scattered showers and thunderstorms.  Temperatures with the clouds and an onshore wind will be slightly lower than today.

Warm and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday through the end of the week as the Bermuda high strengthens off the coast and cold front to our west which will cause a south to southwest flow of tropical air.   The best chance of showers will be in the afternoons each day.

Rain chance decrease by the weekend but it will remain warm and rather humid.

Skies are mostly clear early this morning and temperatures range from around 70 in the Clifton area down to some upper 50s further inland, winds are light and the humidity is lower than it has been with dew points around 60.

Today high pressure will build into the area providing us with plenty of sunshine, lower humidity and seasonably warm temperatures and this nice weather will extend into Monday.

A warm front will pass through the area late Tuesday giving us a chance of showers, humidity will increase by evening.

A strong Bermuda high pressure will be offshore and a trough of low pressure will be to our west which will give the area a moist southerly flow of tropical air.   Showers and some thunderstorms along with high humidity can be expected Wednesday into next weekend.  The best chances of heavy rain will be Wednesday and Thursday.
