We have cloudy skies early on this first day of October and there is some drizzle in parts of the area, winds continue out of the northeast.

Today we continue to have cloudy skies with periods of light rain or drizzle likely as high pressure off the New England coast and a weakening low pressure over the Midwest dominates the weather, winds will be lighter today and precipitation amounts will be less, temperatures will be slightly milder.

The low pressure will weaken further on Sunday but we should still have a chance of light rain or drizzle but we may finally see some sunshine in the afternoon.

Finally improving weather for next week with mainly dry conditions with seasonably mild temperatures.

TROPICS – Hurricane Matthew is now a dangerous category 4 storm and is located in the Western Caribbean, Matthew is expected to turn northward and cross eastern Jamaica and western Cuba, after that it is very uncertain of its path with the American model having it ride along the coast and affect our area next weekend while the European model has the storm move safely out to sea, my bets are on the European but it is too early to say if what will occur.

Skies are cloudy early on this Friday morning and there are some light showers in parts of the area, temperatures range from the mid 50s in the Clifton area to around 50 further inland, winds continue to be brisk out of the northeast.

High pressure to our north and low pressure to our south will continue to give our area a brisk northeast flow of cool air along with periods of rain today and tonight..

Cloudy skies should prevail over the weekend with showers continuing, winds will diminish, temperatures will be slightly milder than today.

We may see some sun on Monday but we still will have a chance of showers.

Improving weather Tuesday through Thursday with partly sunny skies and seasonably mild temperatures.

TROPICS – Hurricane Matthew is now a category 2 storm and is well south of the Dominican republic, present indications show the storm to turn north and cross western Cuba and then into the Bahamas, from there it should turn northeast off the east coast of the United States.

We have cloudy conditions early on this Thursday morning and temperatures range from the upper 50s in the Clifton area to around 50 inland, winds are from the northeast gusting to 20 mph at times.

A persistent blocking pattern with high pressure well offshore and low pressure to our south will cause cloudy skies today through the weekend with periods of rain, the heaviest rain will fall tonight into Friday, temperatures will be quite cool through Saturday rising to near normal on Sunday.

Still a chance of showers on Monday followed by dry conditions for Tuesday and Wednesday with near normal temperatures.

TROPICS – Tropical storm Matthew gave us here in Barbados torrential rain, strong winds and heavy surf yesterday and now is moving into the central Caribbean, some models continue to show the storm moving just off the east coast late next week as a hurricane.

Skies are mostly clear early this Wednesday morning but there is some patchy fog in some areas, temperatures range from the low 50s in the Clifton area to some low 40s further inland, winds are nearly calm.

Today we will have an increase in clouds as high pressure moves off the New England coast and low pressure approaches from the southwest, light rain or drizzle may make it into our area by tonight.

An upper level through of low pressure just to our west will cause unsettled conditions through the weekend, there will be chances of rain throughout this period with the heaviest rain falling tomorrow night into Friday morning, it will be breezy, daytime temperatures will be below normal but low temperatures will be above normal.

Finally we should see improving conditions earl next week with seasonably mild temperatures.

TROPICS – The tropical wave is now about 100 miles east of Barbados and is expected to cross the island this afternoon and possibly become Tropical storm Matthew this afternoon, conditions this morning are mainly just cloudy with some patches of blue skies with very little wind. The computer models are indicating the storm to move up the east coast and possibly affect our area late next week.

Light rain is falling over most of the area early on this Tuesday morning with temperatures milder than the last few mornings ranging from the mid 60s in the Clifton area to around 60 inland, the humidity is high and the winds are light.

The weak front that caused the overnight rain will move offshore, the rain will end this morning and we should see some sunshine by this afternoon, temperatures will be seasonably mild.

Tomorrow will start off dry but low pressure along the front offshore will cause light rain or drizzle in the afternoon.

Unsettled weather will continue Thursday though at least the early part of the weekend giving us periods of rain with the heaviest rain falling on Thursday.

Dry weather should return on Sunday and last into early next week with seasonably mild temperatures.

TROPICAL – While we are vacationing in Barbados a strong tropical system is approaching and will be crossing the island tomorrow, this storm is expected to give us at least tropical storm winds and heavy rain, the storm should become “Matthew” and may actually come up the east coast and intensify into a hurricane by the middle of next week.
