Wonderful holiday weekend weather after yesterday’s storms!


Skies have become mostly clear early on this Saturday morning and temperatures have dropped to around 60 here in Clifton to the low 50s further inland, winds are light and the humidity is low.

Yesterday’s storms caused some wind damage along with hail, frequent lightning and heavy rain, around 1 1/4 inches of rain fell in Clifton.

Today will be a much quieter day as a cold front has moved offshore and high pressure builds in from the northwest, temperatures will be seasonably warm with plenty of sunshine, the humidity will be low and there will be a nice refreshing breeze.

Mostly sunny skies will continue on Sunday and temperatures may be a couple of degrees higher than today’s, the humidity will stay low.

We may have a bit more clouds on Independence Day as a weak front will be to our south, there will be a slight chance of showers at night but most areas will stay dry with continued low humidity.

Quite warm and increasingly humid air is expected for the end of next week with continued mainly dry conditions.

JUNE 2016 CLIMATE SUMMARY –  This June’s temperature averaged slightly above normal and precipitation was below normal with 3.04″ falling.  The high temperature was 90 degrees recorded on 11th and the 19th, the lowest was 49 on the 9th.

Some severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening followed by excellent holiday weekend weather!


Skies are partly cloudy early on this Friday morning and temperatures range from the mid 60s here in Clifton to the mid 50s further inland, winds are nearly calm.

Today a warm front will be approaching from the south and a cold front approaches from the west setting the stage for the  possibility of severe weather later this afternoon and evening, some storms may be accompanied by damaging winds and hail and there is even a slight chance of a small tornado, the best chance of storms would be from 4 p.m. till 10 p.m.  Partial clearing after midnight as the cold front crosses the area.

High pressure will then build across the area for the holiday weekend giving us ideal weather with warm temperatures, low humidity and plenty of sunshine along with a nice breeze.

It now appears that Tuesday will remain dry a front will be too far to our south to cause any precipitation in our area.

High pressure will build into our area for the Wednesday through Friday period with quite warm temperatures and increasing humidity by late in the week.

Skies are cloudy and there is some fog in parts of inland areas, temperatures range from the mid 60s here in Clifton to near 60 further inland, winds are nearly calm.

A front that gave us the rain yesterday will be moving slowly offshore today and a weak high pressure will build from the west, skies will become partly sunny with warm temperatures but the humidity levels will drop by this afternoon.

Dry and warm with comfortable humidity on Thursday.

Another front will give us a chance of showers Friday afternoon and evening.

Great weather for the holiday weekend with plenty of sunshine all three days with warm tempertures and rather low humidity for this time of year.

Showers may return with a front on Tuesday.

Skies are cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures are mainly in the upper 60s, the humidity is high and the winds are nearly calm.  Some showers are across parts of Eastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey.

Today will be mainly cloudy and humid as a cold front approaches the area, showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop this afternoon and continue until around midnight tonight, temperatures will be not as warm due to the clouds and showers.

High pressure will build into the area on Wednesday and continue to dominate our weather on Thursday, temperatures will be warm but it will be less humid. There is a low chance of a shower Wednesday afternoon and evening but otherwise it will be dry.

Another cold front may touch off some showers mainly Friday evening.

At this time the holiday weekend weather looks ideal with plenty of sunshine, warm temperatures and comfortable humidity.
