We have cloudy skies early on this Wednesday morning,  temperatures are on the mild side ranging from 40 degrees in Clifton to near 30 in some of the colder inland areas, winds are nearly calm.

A storm moving through the Great Lakes with a cold front extending from the storm will approach the area today, rain will develop this morning along with quite mild temperatures with highs approaching the 60 degree mark.  The heaviest rain will fall from late this afternoon into this evening with an average of 1 1/4″ of rainfall expected.

Clearing on Thursday and after a mild night temperatures will rise only a few degrees reaching the low 50s.

Dry weather is expected Friday through the weekend with temperatures slightly above normal.

The groundhog looks to be wrong about an early spring as next week we may have a snowstorm on Tuesday followed by cold Arctic air the rest of next week.

JANUARY 2016 CLIMATE INFORMATION:

January averaged nearly 2 degrees above normal.  Rainfall totaled 4.01″ which is near normal.  Snowfall was 21.0″  with 20″ falling during the storm on the 23rd.

Highest temperature  was 61 degrees on the 10th with the lowest reading of 7 degrees on the 5th.

Skies are clear early this Tuesday morning and although it is cooler than this time of year readings are still above normal ranging from the mid 30s here in Clifton to the mid 20s further inland, winds are light.

Today will be a very nice day with plenty of sunshine, light winds and high temperatures approaching the 50 degree mark.  It will not be a “repeat” of last year’s Groundhog Day when we received 7 inches of snow.

A storm system will be moving to the Great Lakes as a warm front associated with the system passing to our north tomorrow morning followed by a cold front late at night.  Rain will develop in the morning and become heavy at times before tapering off in the evening, expect around 1 1/4″ of rainfall, temperatures will rise to near 60 degrees.

Clearing will take place on Thursday and it will still be mild as there will not be much cold air behind the system, highs will be around 50.

Dry weather will continue Friday through the weekend with temperatures continuing to be slightly above normal.

My guess is that Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow and we will have six more weeks of winter.   And the computer models are also indicating quite cold weather the end of next week into the following weekend.

Skies are partly cloudy early this Monday morning and there is a rather large spread in temperatures ranging from the mild low 40s here in Clifton to some mid 20s in colder valleys, winds are light.

A weak cold front will cross the area this afternoon accompanied by some showers, it will be rather mild once again with highs in the 50s.

Tuesday will be a dry day with only slightly cooler temperatures.

A rather strong storm will be moving through the middle of the country up to the Great Lakes, its associated cold front will be approaching our area on Wednesday giving us very mild temperatures along with showers, these showers may be heavy at times with even a possible thunderstorm, rainfall amounts will average one inch.

Dry weather is expected Thursday through the weekend, it will be cooler but temperatures will be slightly above normal.

Today will be a milder day with a mix of clouds and sunshine, high temperatures will be around 10 degrees above normal for this time of year with readings approaching the 50 degree mark.

Monday will be a mild day but with plenty of clouds, a weak cold front will give us a chance of some light showers in the afternoon and early evening.

Mostly sunny skies return for Tuesday, temperatures will a little cooler but stay above normal.

A stronger cold front approaching the area on Wednesday will cause showers with quite mild temperatures.

Cooler Thursday through the early part of next weekend along with dry conditions, the storm that we have been following for Friday looks to stay well offshore so no precipitation is expected.

We have mainly clear skies early on this Saturday morning and temperatures are rather uniform across the area ranging from the mid 20s here in Clifton to around 20 in the colder inland areas, winds are light.

High pressure building into the area will give us a mostly sunny day today with seasonably cold temperatures.

Dry weather will continue on Sunday with high temperatures around 10 degrees higher than today.

Quite mild on Monday with a low chance of a shower as a weak cold front crosses the area.  Mostly sunny on Tuesday with slightly cooler air but readings will still be above normal.

A stronger cold front will cross the area on Wednesday, temperatures will be very mild with highs approaching 60.

Dry and cooler on Thursday.

Some computer models are indicating a possible coastal storm on Friday that could give us snow or rain.
