One storm departs but another one to give us snow on Saturday!

Yesterday we had snow that accumulated to 1 inch in Clifton before mixing with sleet and then just plain rain in the evening but with it we had strong winds and early this morning rare December thunder and lightning. Today the rain will taper off to showers that will end by this afternoon, still breezy but not as windy as last night.. Friday will be quiet with seasonably cool temperatures. The next storm will give us snow from around noontime to midnight on Saturday, my best guess at this time would be for a potential for about 4 inches of snow, more along the coast and less to our north and west. Colder weather Sunday into the start of the New Year.

The forecast:
Today – Showers this morning, partial clearing by sunset, breezy, high near 40.
Tonight – Partly cloudy, low in the mid 20s.
Friday – Mostly sunny, high near 40.

Wednesday – Partly sunny, high in the low 30s.

Marine forecast: Gale warning till 4am on Friday – Today – Northwest winds gusting to 40 knots, seas 6 feet.
Outlook – Conditions lowering to below advisory levels later Friday and early Saturday but advisories or warnings may be needed for the coastal storm Saturday night with winds and seas above advisory levels into Monday..

Have a good day!

Nor-easter to affect our area this afternoon into Thursday morning!

A rather potent storm now located in the southeastern states will be moving into our area giving us strong winds and heavy precipitation this afternoon into Thursday. The precipitation will start off as snow that can give us an inch of snow in the Clifton area before changing to rain this evening, however further inland the change over will be slower and there a good chance that several inches of snow will come down quickly before mixing with sleet and then freezing rain, there additional icing will fall well into this evening. In the Clifton area the snow will mix and change to rain this evening with rain heavy at times, also strong wind gusts to 40 mph are likely. The precipitation will taper off Thursday morning to showers as the storm moves offshore. Friday will be quiet and dry with seasonably cool temperatures. Another storm has the potential to give us snow Saturday night into Sunday morning, too early to estimate snow falls with this storm as some computer models have the storm moving too far south of us and out to sea.. Monday and Tuesday will be dry with slightly colder than normal temperatures.

The forecast: Snow beginning around 1PM, may accumulate to 1 inch by evening, 4-8 ” Northwest New Jersey, high near 40.

Tonight – Rain, snow, sleet and freezing rain changing to all rain, rain will be heavy at times with strong winds. low in the low-mid 30s.

Thursday – Rain showers mostly ending by noon, breezy, high in the low 40s.
Friday – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 30s.
Saturday – Becoming cloudy with a chance of snow by the afternoon, high in the mid 30s.
Sunday – Cloudy with a chance of snow, high in the mid 30s.
Monday – Partly sunny, high in the mid 30s.
New Year’s Day – Partly sunny, high in the low-mid 30s.

Marine forecast: Storm warnings from 6pm tonight to 6am Thursday. East winds gusting to 50 knots by evening, seas up to 15 feet.

Outlook – Gale warnings likely during the day Thursday, conditions lowering to below advisory levels on Friday but advisories may be needed for the storm on the weekend.

Have a good day after!

Pleasant weather for Christmas Day!

We had a little snow last night that mixed with rain, the snow accumulations were around 1 inch with more inland so I guess you can briefly call this a white Christmas, however with some sunshine and temperatures reaching into the 40s most if not all of the snow will be melted by this afternoon. Another stronger storm will give us more precipitation along with strong winds from tomorrow afternoon into Thursday, most of this precipitation will be in the form of rain but inland sections are likely to have a quick dump of snow before changing to rain. Quiet weather on Friday but still another storm may threaten our area with snow from Saturday night into Sunday.. Colder next week..

The forecast:
Today – Some drizzle this morning giving way to mostly sunny skies, highs in the mid 40s.
Tonight – Partly cloudy, low in the upper 20s.
Wednesday – Rain and snow developing in the afternoon, with mainly rain at night which may fall heavy at times, becoming quite windy, high near 40.
Thursday – Rain and windy in the morning, cloudy with a chance of showers in the afternoon, high near 40.
Friday – Mostly sunny – high near 40
Saturday and Sunday – Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow or rain, highs in the upper 30s.
Monday – Partly sunny, high in the mid 30s.

Marine Forecast: Today – North-northwest winds to 13 knots, seas 3 feet.
Outlook – Gale or storm warnings for Wednesday into Thursday. Sub-advisory level conditions on Friday but advisories or warnings may be needed for a potential storm on the weekend.

Have a very Merry Christmas!!!!!
