This morning a complex of thunderstorms moved just to our north across the Hudson Valley into Long Island and now there is clearing however more numerous storms are likely to develop mainly from 4pm to 9pm, hopefully they either don’t occur or move through quickly since I will be attending the Yankee game tonight. Thursday looks dry and quite warm. More thunderstorm chances again from late Friday into Saturday. Sunday through next Tuesday look pleasant with comfortable temperatures and humidity.

Finally humidity levels are going down!

Yesterday we again had high humidity with dew points in the 70s, not much in the way of rain as we only recorded .02″ in a late evening shower, the flooding rains were mainly confined to extreme southern New Jersey.

A cold front is moving through and already this morning the dew points have lowered in the more comfortable 60s, this lower humidity will continue through Monday but temperatures will still be quite warm. Tuesday into Wednesday humidity will start to rise a bit again along with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Nice on Thursday but another front will cause more showers on Friday. Next weekend looks very pleasant.

Humidity remains along with a chance of thunderstorms!

Well the forecast made yesterday was a little bit of a bust as all the rain fell in about a three hour period from 11am to 2pm where I recorded 1.18″ of rain during that time and we had no rain this rest of the afternoon and at night. No severe weather occurred in this area but Long Island had a weak tornado, Connecticut also had some wind damage.

This morning the dew points are still in the oppressive mid 70s and they should stay high as a cold front slowly approaches from the west. There is a 50% chance of thunderstorms during the day that still may contain very heavy rain.

Hopefully we can clear out a little bit tonight as the peak of the Perseid meteor shower happens overnight, conditions will be better on Sunday night for viewing any of that activity.

Forecast: Today, mostly cloudy with a good chance of showers and thunderstorms, humid with highs in the mid-upper 80s.

Tonight: mostly cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms, low around 70.

Sunday, chance of a morning shower then becoming partly sunny and less humid, high in the upper 80s.

Monday, mostly sunny, high in the upper 80s.

Tuesday, partly sunny, a little more humid with a chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms, high in the upper 80s.

Wednesday, partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, high in the upper 80s.

Thursday, sunny, high in the upper 80s.

Friday, partly sunny with a chance of thunderstorms, high in the upper 80s.

Long range for next weekend looks cooler and comfortable with highs in the upper 70s..

Marine forecast:, Small craft advisory until 6am Sunday for southwest winds gusting to 25 mph and seas up to 6 feet.
Outlook, sub-advisory levels the rest of Sunday through the end of next week.

Have a good day!
