Not as cold for the day after Christmas with a slight chance of light snow!


Temperatures this morning are nearly 10 degrees higher than this time yesterday ranging from the mid 20s in the Clifton area to some teens further inland, skies are mostly cloudy.

Today there is a slight chance of snow from late this morning to the early part of the afternoon with a possible coating in our northwest suburbs. Skies will clear later in the day and temperatures will reach the 40 degree mark.

Expect dry weather for Friday and Saturday with moderating temperatures.

It now appears that a low pressure will develop and move up the coast on Sunday giving us mostly just plain rain possibly starting as snow on Sunday morning before quickly changing over to rain.

Monday we will dry out with seasonably temperatures.

Colder weather moves in on Tuesday and last most of next week.

 

The forecast: Today – Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow from around 10am till 3pm then becoming mostly sunny, high near 40.

Tonight – Mostly clear, low in the mid 20s.

Friday – Mostly sunny, high around 40.

Saturday – Sunny, high in the upper 40s.

Sunday – Mostly cloudy with a good chance of rain developing possibly beginning as snow, high in the low 40s.

Monday – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.

Tuesday – Partly sunny and colder, high in the low 30s.

New Year’s Day – Partly sunny, high in the low 30s.

 

Marine Forecast: Today – South-southwest winds becoming north-northeast gusting to 22 knots seas 2-4 feet.  Small craft advisory will be in effect for 4pm till midnight.

Outlook – Sub-advisory level conditions Friday through Sunday with advisories possible late Sunday night into Monday.

Very cold Christmas Day!

An Arctic cold front came through last evening accompanied by a very brief but heavy snow squall, here in Clifton we only got a dusting but some areas received a quick inch of snow.  Much colder air moved into the area following the front.  Most readings early this morning are in the teens.

During the day today will have some increasing cloudiness and it will remain quite cold but with diminishing winds, temperatures will remain mainly in the 20s.

Milder on Thursday will only a slight chance of rain or snow showers.

Dry weather will continue on Friday through the weekend with a moderating temperature trend.

Colder again next week with a possible winter storm at the end of the week.

Tonight – Mostly cloudy, low in the mid 20s.

Thursday – Partly sunny with a slight chance of rain or snow showers in the afternoon, high around 40.

Winter has returned! Possible coating of snow tonight!


Temperatures this morning have dipped to the low 30s in the Clifton area to some 20s further inland which is about 25 degrees colder than this time yesterday but still above normal for this time of year.

Today we will have mostly cloudy skies with near normal high temperatures of 40 degrees.

Another cold front will be coming through this evening accompanied by some snow showers, some areas may get a coating of the white stuff to get in the mood for Christmas. Temperatures will drop to the teens by Christmas morning.

Christmas Day will be cold with highs only reaching the 30 degree mark, it will be dry, winds will be gusty in the morning and then diminish as the day goes on.

Somewhat milder Thursday through Sunday and we should stay dry.

Much colder weather next week with a possible storm around Jan 3rd.

Winter heat wave to end today with rain!


Another amazingly mild morning as temperatures have remained in the upper 50s, skies are cloudy with rain moving into our area.

Yesterday the high in Clifton was a record breaking 69 degrees with a low of 57 more than 30 degrees above normal for the date.  Central Park and Newark each had a high of 71 both records.  At Central Park the low temperature was 61 degrees that was the first time of any winter that the temperature did not fall below 60, in fact it never happened before in 144 years of records with the latest being November 27th and earliest March 25th.

Today we will have rain tapering off  this afternoon, temperatures will remain in the 50s but fall to near 30 by Tuesday morning.

Tuesday will be colder and there is a slight chance of flurries.

Christmas Day will be cold but with less wind.  Highs around the freezing mark and Christmas morning lows mostly in the teens.

Slightly milder Thursday through the weekend and we should be precipitation free.

For the longer range it appears that we will have quite cold weather for next week.

Record high temperatures today with showers!


Record highs have already occurred on this very unseasonably warm morning, temperatures in the Clifton area are in the low 60s which would be normal for this time of day in June.

Today we will have scattered showers but most of the area will remain dry.  Skies will be cloudy but highs will approach the 70 degree mark. Shower chances increase tonight.

Showers on Monday as a cold front slowly passes through the area, still mild 50s during most of the day but colder air will reach the area by Monday night.

Tuesday will be much colder and breezy with a chance of snow flurries to put us in the mood for Christmas.

Dry and cold on Christmas day.

Bit milder Thursday into next weekend, most of this time period will be rain free with only a slight chance of showers with a cold front on Thursday night.
