Warm and humid with afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms likely! More showers possible over the weekend!


Good morning everyone!

Skies are mostly clear early this morning and it is quite warm with temperatures ranging from the mid 70s in the Clifton area down to the upper 60s further inland, the humidity is high with dew points around 70.

Today will be quite warm and humid as temperatures rise to near 90 and with dew points in the low 70s will bring heat indexes close to 100, a heat advisory continues in effect.  Showers and thunderstorm are likely to develop this afternoon and continue into tonight,  some storms may be strong to severe with strong gusty winds and heavy downpours.

A cold front will cross the area on Saturday it will continue to be warm and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Sunday will be cooler and less humid but a disturbance along the front to our south may cause some more showers.

After a dry and pleasant Monday more showers are possible late Tuesday into Wednesday as a warm front pushes to our north followed by a cold front.

Dry weather should return for Thursday along with pleasant temperatures and humidity.

TODAY – AUG 17 – Partly sunny quite warm and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly after 1 p.m.  some storms may be severe with strong gusty winds and heavy rain, high near 90.

TONIGHT – Cloudy and muggy with showers and thunderstorms likely, some storms may be severe, low in the mid 70s.

SATURDAY – AUG 18 – Mostly cloudy and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, high in the upper 80s.

SUNDAY – AUG 19 – Cloudy, cooler and less humid with a continued chance of showers, high in the mid 70s.

MONDAY – AUG 20 – Partly sunny and pleasant, high near 80.

TUESDAY – AUG 21 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly after 2  p.m., high in the low 80s.

WEDNESDAY – AUG 22 – Partly sunny with a chance of shower and thunderstorms, high in the mid 80s.

THURSDAY – AUG 23 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 80s.

 

MARINE FORECAST:  TODAY – Southerly wind to 10 knots seas 1 foot.    Belmar’s ocean temperature is 77 degrees.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected during the day on Saturday; possible advisories for high seas Saturday night through the day on Monday; no advisories expected Monday night through Tuesday.
