Cooler today with showers and thunderstorms, flash flood watch in effect! Showers likely to continue on Tuesday! Dry weather with seasonably warm temperatures Wednesday through the weekend!

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Monday morning and temperatures are still rather warm with readings ranging from the upper 70s in Clifton down to the upper 60s further inland, dew points are around 70 degrees.

A front is just south of the area this morning and low pressure will move along the front causing showers and thunderstorms mainly this afternoon and tonight, rain may be heavy at times with some gusty winds possible in thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are likely with higher amounts possible. A flash flood watch has been posted.

The front will only sag slowly to our south on Tuesday with rain still likely during the day but should not be as heavy as today. Temperatures will be cooler with highs on Tuesday only in the 70s.

Very pleasant summer weather Wednesday through the weekend with plenty of sunshine each day, temperatures will be near normal Wednesday through Friday and then rise to above normal readings over the weekend but it will not be as hot as this past heatwave.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – JULY 22 – Mostly cloudy and cooler with showers and a chance of thunderstorms, rain may be heavy at times with gusty winds this afternoon, high in the mid 80s.

TONIGHT – Cloudy with showers and possibly some thunderstorms, some storms may be severe with heavy rain and strong gusty winds, humid, low in the upper 60s.

TUESDAY – JULY 23 – Mostly cloudy with showers likely mainly in the morning, cooler and becoming less humid, high in the upper 70s.

WEDNESDAY – JULY 24 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 80s.

THURSDAY – JULY 25 – Sunny, high in the mid 80s.

FRIDAY – JULY 26 – Sunny, high in the upper 80s.

SATURDAY – JULY 27 – Sunny, high in the upper 80s.

SUNDAY – JULY 28 – Sunny, high near 90.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – South-southeast wind to 10 knots seas 1 foot. Point Pleasant Beach ocean temperature is 72 degrees.

OUTLOOK – Possible small craft advisories for high seas Tuesday morning otherwise no advisories expected through Friday.
