Mostly sunny and quite warm but less humid today with a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm! Tropical Storm Isaias to affect our area from late tonight through Tuesday evening with flooding rains and strong winds!


Good morning!

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Monday morning and temperatures are warm again with readings ranging from the mid 70s in Clifton down to the mid 60s further inland. Winds are mainly calm and the humidity is lower than this time yesterday with dew points in the 60s.

Today will be another hot day but with lower humidity than yesterday as dew points that were in the mid to upper 70s yesterday will only be in the mid 60s today. There is a chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm.

Tropical Storm Isaias now off the coast of Florida will move north and possibly become a hurricane before coming onshore near the border of North and South Carolina. The storm will then ride up the coast into our area on Tuesday. Rain possibly heavy at times late tonight in advance of the storm but the heaviest rain is expected Tuesday morning through the evening with 3-5 inches of rain expected with higher amounts possible. Also strong winds are expected late Tuesday afternoon with gusts over 50 mph. A tropical storm watch along with a flash flood watch is in effect.

As Isaias pulls away on Wednesday we should see some clearing after a chance of a morning shower.

Mainly dry weather Thursday through next weekend with seasonably warm temperatures and moderate humidity levels.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – AUG 3 – Mostly sunny and not as humid, chance of a shower or thunderstorm mainly after 4 p.m. high near 90.

TONIGHT – Increasing cloudiness with showers and a chance of thunderstorms tonight, rain may be heavy at times, low in the low 70s.

TUESDAY – AUG 4 – Tropical storm conditions! Cloudy with rain heavy at times with a chance of thunderstorms. Strong winds in the afternoon and early evening gusting to 55 mph. Rainfall amounts of 3-5 inches will cause flash flooding. Highs in the upper 70s.

WEDNESDAY – AUG 5 – Mostly sunny with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the morning, high in the upper 80s.

THURSDAY – AUG 6 – Sunny, high in the mid 80s.

FRIDAY – AUG 7 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 80s.

SATURDAY – AUG 8 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 80s.

SUNDAY – AUG 9 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – Southerly winds to 10 knots, seas 2-3 feet. Point Pleasant Beach’s ocean temperature is 78 degrees.

OUTLOOK – Tropical storm conditions Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning! No advisories expected Wednesday afternoon through Friday.
