Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Sunday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. are quite warm with readings ranging from 73 in Clifton down to 68 at High Point. The humidity is high with dew points around 70. Winds are light from the south.

Today will be the start of a heat wave as the Bermuda high pressure dominates, giving our area a southerly flow of hot and humid air today. Yesterday showers were more widespread than forecasted, but although there is a slight chance of a shower today the high pressure will be strong enough to keep most of the area dry.
Very hot weather Monday through Wednesday as the Bermuda high continues to dominate. Only a slight chance of a shower on Monday but a better chance of afternoon and evening showers Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs through this period will be in the mid 90s and with dew points above 70 will cause heat indexes to rise to over 100, a heat advisory is in effect.
Not as hot but staying humid Thursday through the beginning of the holiday weekend as a cold front will be in our area. Showers and thunderstorms are likely; some of the rain may be heavy at times.
