High pressure moving off the coast will give us a light flow of milder air today as winter begins at 10:59 a.m. this morning. Skies will be mostly sunny.

A weak cold front will come through mainly dry Wednesday morning with only a slight chance of light rain which may be mixed with sleet and freezing rain well inland. Clearing and becoming breezy in the afternoon, highs will be above normal with highs in the upper 40s.

Strong high pressure will be with us today providing sunny skies, high temperatures will only reach the upper 30s to around 40, but with less wind it will not feel as harsh as yesterday.

As the high pressure moves offshore a southwest flow of milder air will move into the area on Tuesday, temperatures will reach the upper 40s with plenty of sunshine. A weak cold front will cross the area in the afternoon.

A storm is expected to develop on Wednesday but remain far enough to our east to cause any precipitation in our area, but we should have mostly cloudy skies with breezy conditions, temperatures will remain slightly above normal.

Sunshine will return on Thursday and it will be seasonably cold.

Friday will be partly sunny during the day but a warm front will cause an increase in clouds along with a chance of light rain at night.

Christmas Day looks to be mild with highs in the low 50s but with a chance of showers.

Slightly cooler and dry on Sunday but with an increase in winds.

The frontal system that gave us the light rain and drizzle yesterday is moving offshore and a brisk northwest flow of drier air will be with us today. There may be a rain or snow shower early this morning then skies will gradually clear. With colder air coming in temperatures will not rise much with most highs in the low 40s.

Early morning lows tomorrow may be the coldest of the season so far with temperatures falling to the low 20s which is only a couple of degrees below normal. During the day we will have sunny skies with continued seasonable cool with highs again in the low 40s but with less wind than today.

Much if not all of this coming week will be dry with near normal temperatures.

At this time it appears that Christmas Day will still be dry with highs near 50.

Another day of record warmth is possible today as we will have sunny skies with high temperatures near 60 degrees. A weak cold front will pass through our area this morning with a secondary cold front passing through tonight which will filter in cooler air.

Low pressure will move just to our south on Saturday and precipitation should begin before sunrise and continue through Saturday night. The precipitation will be in the form of rain in the Clifton area but may mix with sleet and slow across higher elevations of northwestern New Jersey. Rainfall amounts will be around 1/2 inch.

A brisk southwest flow of unseasonably mild air will be with us as high pressure off the coast dominates our weather. Record high temperatures are likely with highs mainly in the 60s.

A weak cold front will cross our area early Friday morning but no cold air is behind the front and we should have another unseasonably mild day with still some record highs possible as highs approach the 60 degree mark.

Rain is expected with cooler temperatures on Saturday, the rain will be mainly light with rainfall totals around 1/2 inch.

Sunday through the middle of the week will be cooler as temperatures fall to more seasonable levels and we should be dry through this period as weak high pressure dominates our weather.

Strong high pressure over the northeast (30.65″ at my station this morning) will give us another mild day under partly sunny skies. A warm front may touch off a light shower late this afternoon into this evening.

A southwest flow of very mild air is expected on Thursday despite mostly cloudy skies, highs will rise into the 60s. A weak cold front is expected to cross the area at night with only a slight chance of a shower.

Still mild on Friday with highs again approaching the 60 degree mark.

Low pressure will give us rain with cooler temperatures on Saturday.

Sunday will be cooler and breezy with highs near normal which will feel chilly after the mild weather much of this week.

It now appears that the possible coastal storm will be too far to our south to give our area any precipitation early next week. Temperatures will continue to be near seasonable levels.

High pressure will give us another nice mid December day today with mostly sunny skies, mild temperatures and light winds. There is a weak cold front that will cross our area this afternoon but with no precipitation expected.

Wednesday will have more clouds as a weak warm front approaches our area but high temperatures will once again be in the 50s. The warm front may cause a shower Wednesday night.

Thursday should be the mildest day of the week as a warm front moves to our north and a brisk southwesterly flow develops, highs will be in the low 60s.

Friday again will be a nice and mild day with temperatures a bit lower than on Thursday.

After a dry and mild day on Friday rain is expected on Saturday followed be clearing and cooler weather for Sunday.

Some models are indicating a possible coastal storm for next Tuesday which will give us a chance of rain or snow.

Note: 61 years ago today our area received nearly two feet of snow, it is the earliest snowstorm I remember, I especially liked the three days off from school.

After record warmth yesterday we will be cooler today but at least we will see some sunshine as high pressure builds toward our area from the southeast states. Winds will be brisk especially this morning. High temperatures will be near 50 degrees which is still 5 degrees warmer than normal.

An unusual quiet weather pattern for mid December this week with dry conditions and mild temperatures. Most highs will be in the 50s but may reach the 60s on Thursday.

The next chance of showers will be on Saturday as a cold front approaches our area.
