Chance of light freezing rain changing to light rain this morning! Dry with seasonably cold temperatures on Thursday! Snow likely Friday morning with 2-4 inches accumulation possible!

Skies have become overcast early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures are around 10 degrees milder than this time yesterday with readings ranging from 28 in Clifton down to 20 at Pequest. Winds are mainly calm.

An area of light moisture is moving up from the south and it should reach our area by dawn, as temperatures will still be below freezing some of this moisture may fall as light freezing rain, a winter weather advisory is in effect for our region. The precipitation will change to plain rain after 9 a.m. and end by this afternoon. Skies will remain cloudy with high temperatures reaching the 40s.

A weak area of high pressure will give us dry conditions during the day on Thursday along with seasonable cold temperatures.

Low pressure will likely give us snow Friday morning with accumulations around 2-4 inches expected. The storm is a quick mover so we should see clearing by the afternoon but it will be cold with highs only in the low 30s.

After a dry and chilly Saturday we will have another chance of precipitation on Sunday as a weak frontal system moves into the area. This time it will be warm enough for just rain but may start as a wintery mix Sunday morning.

Dry weather early next week but it will be cold, highs on Monday will be in the 30s but only be in the 20s on Tuesday.

TODAY – JAN 5 – Cloudy with a chance of light freezing rain or drizzle before 9 a.m. then changing to rain and ending by early this afternoon, high in the mid 40s.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy, low near 30.

THURSDAY – JAN 6 – Partly sunny, high in the upper 30s, chance of snow at night.

FRIDAY – JAN 7 – Snow likely in the morning then clearing by the afternoon, high in the low 30s, possible accumulations of 2-4 inches possible.

SATURDAY – JAN 8 – Sunny, high in the low 30s.,

SUNDAY – JAN 9 – Increasing cloudiness with a chance of rain by the afternoon that may start off as a mixture of snow, high in the low 40s.

MONDAY – JAN 10 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 30s.

TUESDAY – JAN 11 – Sunny and quite cold, high only in the upper 20s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until noon today for southerly winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 4-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected during the day on Thursday; advisories expected Thursday night through Friday night with some gale gusts possible; no advisories expected for Saturday; possible advisories for Sunday.
