Some freezing rain changing to liquid rain this afternoon and ending this evening! Dry much of the rest of this week with the coldest air of the season expected Tuesday into Wednesday morning!

Skies are mostly cloudy to cloudy early on this Sunday morning and most areas are still dry but there may be some scattered wintery precipitation across inland areas. Temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 25 in Clifton down to 18 at Basking Ridge. Winds are calm or light southerly.

A frontal system will cause cloudy skies today with some freezing rain mainly after 9 a.m. changing to plain rain this afternoon as temperatures moderate to near the 40 degree mark.

Arctic air will then move into the area on Monday with cold temperatures and brisk wind but skies will be mostly sunny. Daytime temperatures will fall through the 20s.

The coldest air of the season is expected Tuesday into Wednesday morning with highs on Tuesday only around 20 degrees and early morning lows Wednesday morning should be in the single digits. Mostly sunny during the day on Wednesday with slightly moderating temperatures.

Dry weather with temperatures returning to near normal Thursday and Friday.

A possible coastal storm may effect our area next week with a chance of rain or snow.

TONIGHT – Cloudy early with a chance of light rain then becoming partly cloudy, low near 30.

MONDAY – JAN 10 – Mostly sunny, breezy and colder, temperatures falling through the 20s.

TUESDAY – JAN 11– Sunny and very cold, high only near 20.

WEDNESDAY – JAN 12 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 30s.

THURSDAY – JAN 13 – Mostly cloudy, high near 40.

FRIDAY – JAN 14 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 30s.

SATURDAY – JAN 15 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain or snow, high in the mid 30s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisories is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday evening for westerly winds gusting to 30 mph, seas 3-5 feet.

OUTLOOK – A gale watch has been posted effective between 6 p.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Tuesday morning; small craft advisories expected through the day on Tuesday through Tuesday night; no advisories expected Wednesday morning; advisories possible late Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday evening; no advisories expected for Thursday and Friday.
