Gradual clearing, breezy and very mild today! Colder on Thursday with a wintery mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain expected Thursday night into Friday! Generally dry and cold weather for the weekend through early next week!


Skies across the area are mostly cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and it is unseasonably mild with temperatures at 5 a.m. ranging from 58 in Clifton down to 49 at Basking Ridge, winds are from the southwest.

Today will be quite mild with highs in the 60s but it will be breezy. Skies will be mostly cloudy this morning but become mostly sunny this afternoon. A cold front will cross the area in the afternoon followed by much cooler weather tonight with lows by tomorrow morning dropping to the upper 20s.

Thursday will be mainly dry during the day, but a storm system will give us wintery precipitation Thursday night into Friday with a mixture of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain. Snow and ice accumulations of 1-3 inches expected with more accumulation to our north and west where 3-8 inches are expected.

Dry weather over the weekend into early next week with mainly below normal temperatures.

FRIDAY – FEB 25 – Cloudy with snow, sleet and freezing rain in the morning changing to rain in the afternoon, high near 40. Snow and ice accumulation of 1-3 inches likely.

SATURDAY – FEB 26 – Sunny, high in the mid 30s.

SUNDAY – FEB 27 – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.

MONDAY – FEB 28 – Mostly sunny and quite cold, high only near 30.

TUESDAY – MAR 1 – Sunny, high in the upper 30s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday morning for southwest winds becoming northwest and gusting to 30 knots, seas 5-8 feet.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected on Thursday; advisories expected Friday into Saturday morning; no advisories expected Saturday afternoon through Sunday.
