Cloudy and chilly during the day today! Snow developing late tonight then mixing with sleet and freezing rain then changing to rain before ending around noon on Friday! Dry and cold weather for the weekend!

Skies across the area are mostly cloudy to cloudy early on this Thursday morning and temperatures are nearly 30 degrees colder than this time yesterday with readings at 5 a.m. ranging from 28 in Clifton down to 18 at High Point. Winds are from the north-northwest around 10 mph with some higher gusts.

During the day today we will have mainly cloudy skies and it will be chilly with highs only in the 30s, far cry from the 69 degrees we enjoyed yesterday.

A storm system will be moving into our area tonight and off shore by noon on Friday. Snow will begin around 10 p.m. and then mix with freezing rain and sleet before dawn. The precipitation should change to rain before ending around noon. Accumulations of snow and sleet will be around 1-3 inches.

High pressure will be in control of our weather for the weekend. Saturday will be cold but slight milder temperatures on Sunday. A weak cold front will cross the area late in the day on Sunday but should come through dry.

Dry weather should prevail much of next week. Monday will be quite cold with Arctic air in our area then a slow moderation in temperatures as the week goes on.

FRIDAY – FEB 25 – Cloudy with snow, sleet and freezing rain changing to rain before ending around noon, high near 40. Snow accumulations of 1-3 inches.

SATURDAY – FEB 26 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 30s.

SUNDAY – FEB 27 – Sunny, high in the low 40s.

MONDAY – FEB 28 – Sunny, high in the low 30s.

TUESDAY – MAR 1 – Partly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

WEDNESDAY – MAR 2 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – North-northeast wind to 10 knots, seas around 2 feet.
