Sleet and freezing rain changing to plain rain before ending around noon! Dry and seasonably cold weather for the weekend! Mainly dry next week with near seasonable temperatures!


Good morning everyone!

Light freezing rain mixed with sleet is falling over our area early on this Friday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 28 in Clifton down to 18 at High Point. Winds are mainly light from the north-northeast.

The storm system that is giving us this messy winter weather will be moving offshore today, a mixture of sleet and freezing rain will change to plain rain before ending around noon. Temperatures will moderate and mainly be in the low 40s this afternoon. A winter weather advisory is in effect.

Dry weather is expected for the weekend, Saturday the temperatures will be below normal then be around normal for Sunday as high pressure dominates.

Mainly dry weather next week, Monday will be chilly with milder temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday then slightly cooler again for Thursday.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY: FEB 25 – Freezing rain and sleet changing to plain rain before ending around noon, little or no sleet accumulation and minor ice accumulation expected, becoming partly sunny this afternoon, high in the low 40s.

TONIGHT – Partly cloudy, low near 20.

SATURDAY – FEB 26 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 30s.

SUNDAY – FEB 27 – Sunny, high in the mid 40s.

MONDAY – FEB 28 – Sunny, high in the low 30s.

TUESDAY – MAR 1 – Partly sunny, high in the low 40s.

WEDNESDAY – MAR 2 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 40s.

THURSDAY – MAR 3 – Mostly sunny, high near 40.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m. this morning until 6 a.m. Saturday morning for northwest winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 3-6 feet.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected on Saturday; advisories likely Sunday and Monday; no advisories expected for Tuesday.
