Skies are mostly clear early on this Monday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 36 in Clifton down to a chilly 23 degrees at Walpack. Winds are mainly calm or light northwesterly.

During the day today we will see an increase in cloudiness as a low pressure develops over the southeast states and starts moving in our direction. Rain will develop by 6 p.m. tonight and become moderate to heavy late tonight along with strong easterly winds gusting 35-40 mph. The rain will taper off and should end around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. Rainfall amounts will be between 1 and 1.5 inches. Temperatures will continue to be chilly. This system may cause some accumulating snow across higher elevations of the Poconos. Some clearing Tuesday afternoon but it will remain cool.

Quiet weather is expected Wednesday through the weekend with dry conditions and a slow moderation in temperatures.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – APR 18 – Increasing clouds, high in the low 50s.

TONIGHT – Rain mainly after 6 p.m., strong easterly winds gusting to 40 mph. Low near 40. Rainfall amounts of 1 – 1.5 inches.

TUESDAY – APR 19 – Rain ending by 8 a.m. then becoming mostly sunny by the afternoon, breezy and cool, high in the mid 50s.

WEDNESDAY – APR 20 – Sunny, high near 60.

THURSDAY – APR 21 – Mostly cloudy, high in the low 60s.

FRIDAY – APR 22 – Mostly sunny, high near 70.

SATURDAY – APR 23 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 60s.

SUNDAY – APR 24 – Partly sunny, high in the mid 60s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. this evening for easterly winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 3-5 feet.

OUTLOOK – A gale warning has been posted effective between 6 p.m. this evening until 10 a.m. Tuesday morning; small craft advisories expected to continue through Tuesday night; no advisories expected Wednesday through Friday.
