Powerful storm to continue to give us heavy rain and winds this morning! A flood warning is in effect! Rain tapering off and ending this afternoon and it will be windy and cooler! Dry, quiet with mainly near seasonable temperatures Tuesday through Christmas Day!

Heavy rain is falling early on this Monday morning and it is quite mild with temperatures ranging from 58 in Clifton down to 52 in Wantage and High Point. Winds are very gusty out of the southeast with some speeds over 45 mph. So far we have picked up around 2.75″ of rainfall since yesterday. The barometer is very low with a reading of 29.17 inches and it continues to fall.

Heavy rain with strong winds are expected to continue this morning with another inch or so of rainfall which is causing flooding in many areas. Winds will continue to gust to 45 mph this morning from the southeast then switch to the west by noontime. Still some showers are possible this afternoon but will be much lighter than this morning.

High pressure will then build into our area on Tuesday as the low pressure moves well to our north and east. It will be breezy with seasonably cool temperatures.

Very tranquil weather Wednesday through Christmas Day with dry conditions. Temperatures will be near seasonable levels through Friday then be above normal for the holiday weekend.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – DEC 18 – Flood warning in effect! Rain heavy at times with a chance of a thunderstorm this morning, windy with gusts to 45 mph. Highs in the low 60s dropping to 50 by sunset. Still a chance of showers this afternoon.

TONIGHT – Partly cloudy and breezy, lows in the mid 30s, winds gusting to 30 mph.

TUESDAY – DEC 19 – Mostly sunny and much cooler, highs in the low 40s.

WEDNESDAY – DEC 20 – Sunny, highs in the upper 40s.

THURSDAY – DEC 21 – Sunny, highs in the upper 40s.

FRIDAY – DEC 22 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 40s.

SATURDAY – DEC 23 – Partly sunny, highs in the mid 40s.

SUNDAY – DEC 24 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 40s.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until 6 p.m. this evening form southeast winds gusting to 45 knots, seas 13-18 feet.

OUTLOOK: Advisories expected for Tuesday; still possible advisories for elevated seas Wednesday through Friday.
