Skies are mostly clear and it is cold for the first full day of winter with temperatures ranging from 22 in Clifton down to 13 at High Point. The 22 degrees here is the coldest since last February but only a couple of degrees below normal. Winds are light from the north. The air quality is good with an index of 25.

High pressure in our area will give us mostly sunny skies but it will be chilly with most high temperatures staying in the 30s, however the winds will be much lighter than the last couple of days.

Milder on Saturday as a weak warm front moves to our north, skies will be partly sunny but become mostly cloudy at night.

A weakening low pressure disturbance may touch off some light showers or sprinkles Sunday morning but it will remain mild.

Christmas Day still looks to be dry and mild with most highs in the low 50s.

A low pressure system will likely give us rain Tuesday night into Wednesday night with continued mild temperatures.

Still a chance of showers for Thursday.

TUESDAY – DEC 26 – Cloudy with a rain likely mainly after 1 p.m., highs in the low 50s.

WEDNESDAY – DEC 27 – Cloudy with rain likely, highs in the mid 50s.

THURSDAY – DEC 28 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers, highs in the low 50s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect for high seas until 6 p.m. this evening. Winds light and variable less than 5 knots, seas 3-6 feet.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected Saturday through Tuesday.
